WE are close to Father's Day in my country, So I wanted to talk about Reed Richards as a father.

Is he a good father? Is he raising his son well? Do you think he could be a better father?

What do you say?

They touched upon this recently in the main FF book, when Reed And Sue were investigated by the Child Welfare Bureau...

As it turns out, yes; Reed is a good father. He just tends to not give his children as much attention as he could/should be, due to his getting distracted by his scientific research...

I'll go so far as to say he is an great father! There have been many examples over the years that show what an excellent dad he is. Too numerous to mention them all here, but I recall one story where he has an excellent talk with Franklin on the validity of a higher being (God). Very nice stuff. How many fathers could do all the scientific research he does, save the world about once a month, deal with Johnny and Ben, make time for Sue and still be there for his children. Talk about a guy stretched too thin. heheheheheheheheheh
There are a few writers out there that really do not portray him in an accurate light, IMO. None of them, however, work on the main title (or have in the last few years) or the knights title.

hahahahahaha. I think Reed is a good father as long as he's not distracted by science. Side question I remember hearing somewhere that Doctor Doom either had a son or some kid came along with him and he was a good dad. Is this true?

In FF vol. issues 195-200, Doom had a son. (Ssshhh! To all of you who know about the secret of Doom's son please don't spoil it for those who don't.) He treated him well. Until issue 199 he had to whoop his son's ass because he was disrespecting his father. But Doom was seriously remorseful over the outcome. That son he liked. I'm not sure about his other sons though.

Here's some more on Doom: http://members.aol.com/doomscribe/faq.htm

I think he is- when he doesn't let his passion for science get in the way. in Secret Wars#2, Cap alludes to Reed's often overlooked capacity for compassion and humanity( to be fair, there may be an element of gender stereotyping here)
