Diamond Select is trying to revive Battle Beasts in the form of minimates. Got one of the free give-aways at C2E2. It's all black and comes with a gun instead of a sword like in the one pictured.

But, they are testing the waters and wanting to bring back the beasties...

Are they still gonna have the sticker that you rub to tell you which side they're on? I mean, that's a MUST for Battle Beasts.

No, since these are in no way connected to Hasbro. I was watching something from the crew of "that new toy smell" and they said that Diamond just went through lasped copyrights and saw that Hasbro let Battle Beasts expire. And snatched it up. None of the supporting fiction (faction names and symbols or character names) is going to be attached to these new mini-mates. Another thing is that there isn't a new line of them coming as yet. Just a series of con exclusives this year.

The stickers, according to the head of production at Diamond Select that I had a lengthy conversation with at C2E2, are still up in the air. They're using these convention exclusives to test the waters and see what the reaction is. The stickers are still a possibility.

If anything some faction symbols would be cool, regardless of the use of the stickers or not.

So what's your take on that C2E2 exclusive u got yer hands on? Any pics?

I'll get pics up eventually.

It's actually very cool. You wouldn't even think it's a mini mate when you get your hands on it. I do wish I got the silver one but they were only giving out the black version. The armor hinders poseability, but compared to the originals it's superb. I really really do hope this line gets produced because it is one I will be collecting.

If some faction symbols get incorporated into the figure's design I'd jump in and snag a few myself too. Roughneck always had a sweet spot for the original Battle Beasts and I think he still has a fairly big collection of them. I wonder what his take on these is.
