Jennifer Lawrence to Star in Love Story 'Rosie Project' (Exclusive)

The Oscar-winning star, who was at Comic-Con Friday as part of the Hunger Games panel, is attached to star in The Rosie Project, a romantic dramedy being developed at Columbia Pictures.

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller were looking to direct the project but the Lego Movie filmmakers segued out when they took on the young Han Solo Star Wars movie. The project is now on a fast-track search for a director.

Rosie, an adaptation of a Graeme Simsion book, tells of a socially inept genetics professor who comes up with a scientifically sound survey to find the perfect mate. His plans get curvy when he meets Rosie Jarman, who in her whirlwind manner possesses all the opposite qualities he should be looking for.

Scott Neustadter and Michael Weber, who tackled quirk and heartache with the acclaimed (500) Days of Summer, wrote the script.

Matt Tolmach and Michael Costigan are producing.

Seriously attaching yourself to another project? She has like 10 movies in the pipeline.

Jennifer Lawrence’s ‘Rosie Project’ Eyes Director Richard Linklater

Sony is eyeing “Boyhood” director Richard Linklater to helm Jennifer Lawrence’s comedy-drama “The Rosie Project.”

The movie, based on the Graeme Simsion novel, centers on a socially awkward genetics professor who devises a science-based survey to find the perfect mate — only to see those theories splintered when he meets the spontaneous Rosie Jarman (played by Lawrence), who possesses the opposite qualities.

Scott Neustadter and Michael Weber, who teamed on “(500) Days of Summer,” have revised Simsion’s adaptation of the novel. “The Lego Movie” co-directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller were initially interested, but have opted to take on Disney’s Han Solo “Star Wars” standalone movie.

Sony acquired the film rights to “The Rosie Project” last year and set it up with Sony-based producers Matt Tolmach and Michael Costigan.

Paramount announced Monday that it will release Linklater’s baseball comedy — formerly titled “That’s What I’m Talking About” — on April 15.

The news about “The Rosie Project” was first reported by Deadline.
