I thought the argument wasn't whether or not global warming was happening, but rather what was causing it?

I thought so myself. You still have some hardcore deniers who doubt that any climate change is occurring at all.
I think the debate is still on about just how much man is affecting the climate. What I don't understand is why there is such a fight against the idea of policies allowing for a cleaner environment. I seriously doubt that they will, as one poster stated, ruin our economy.
Because to some, policies governing a cleaner environment (cue the overly dramatic most ridiculous music you can imagine) would mean "THE DOWNFALL OF ALL BUSINESS...OF THE ECONOMY...OF VERY CIVILIZATION ITSELF!"
What some don't realize is that in changing over into cleaner fuel and energy alternatives, not to mention lifestyle, we would create millions of new jobs and add to the economy. The profits would be there, they just wouldn't be going to the stuck up, self-righteous a**h**** that are already robbing us blind.
How? Millions of new jobs???? Where? Add to the economy? How much???
Not trying to argue here, but that's a big statement, just wondering if you have the facts to back it...Also, what energy alternatives are you talking about?
I asked this in the last Global Warming thread and got no answer; how fast are the oceans rising?
I looked over the article references. Looks like dailytech exaggerated something.

Genesis 1.0 needs to learn how to read before he keeps posting. This was pointed out in the other ****ing Global Warming thread, MORE THAN ONCE.uh...no it doesn't....
maybe that's why?

Close/merge.I'm getting sick of pointing this **** out in multiple threads now.

Dignify what? The revelation that this has been discussed more than once? The fact that you kept on about it even after the, "erasure," portion of your post has been debunked multiple times already?Heh, I won't even dignify THAT with a response.

You're right. We need more homosexuality threads. We need more Obama/Hillary threads. Get to it.Yes, because GOD FORBID we discuss something of importance more than once on the hype.......

All I said was that it's tiring to debunk the same point over and over again. Are several different threads necessary? See, I was under the impression that there was a reason mods merge/delete repetitive threads. You just weakened your opinion by this post.......discussion is a positive. Discuss where you can man.............it's all good.![]()

Now that I have your blessing, though, I guess duplicate threads are a positive as well.![]()
http://forums.superherohype.com/showthread.php?t=296937As far as threads on Global Warming.......this thread started in one vein of discussion, and logically moved to the intricate discussion of Global Warming once again, probably being read by different people than one in Community somewhere......
5 Threads on the issue of "Batman's ****" in the same Spoiler forum....is one thing.
Discussion of a topic in different contexts......is another.

Kel, come on. First page. The only difference is that Limbaugh announced it. Context?

You know what? I apologize Genesis. I was a bit harsh, and unnecessarily at that, upon re-reading that post. I went off on a weird, semi-random tangent after that. Hug?

Well, like I said in the other thread, it is really interesting. People so far have been touting it as some instant-fix (the word, "erase," has been thrown around erroneously). It's completely anomalous.Well I actually avoid a debate for once and it paid off.
*Gives man-hug*
But all that crap aside, my focal point was that it took one year to create this type of change, to observe the reaction it's garnered and lack thereof in the media, and just what would this mean if the trend continues in this particular vein.
A global cooldown would definitely be more devestating in my humble opinion and now it seems that the sentiment for this sort of change seems to be gathering suport.
Imagine instead of wasting money on "carbon credits" and investing into stuff like this. Now if they pull this off, I can imagine environmentalists *****ing about not enough CO2 for plants or something. hehGeneticist Craig Venter disclosed his potentially world-changing "fourth-generation fuel" project at an elite Technology, Entertainment and Design conference in Monterey, California.
"We have modest goals of replacing the whole petrochemical industry and becoming a major source of energy," Venter told an audience that included global warming fighter Al Gore and Google co-founder Larry Page.
"We think we will have fourth-generation fuels in about 18 months, with CO2 as the fuel stock."

Actually Kel, my favorite one still is "Bale's Butt is not round enough". That one is a classicAs far as threads on Global Warming.......this thread started in one vein of discussion, and logically moved to the intricate discussion of Global Warming once again, probably being read by different people than one in Community somewhere......

Well, it's become a stereotype, hasn't it? There's a spectrum of people that the word encompasses, but the image that stands out in peoples' minds are the eco-terrorists, or the people that chain themselves to trees that are scheduled to be cut down. It's funny how environmentalists have become a group to mock.
I don't get it.
we all share the same needs on earth, the fact that some people actively seek to conserve the elements we all need does not make me think that they warrant any derision.
it's almost like " environmentalist" has become a dirty word, an insult.
like " intellectual" I'm saddened by this, but also, I have to admit, it makes the left corner of my mouth crook into a smirk.
Thought I post this up.

The problem with environmentalists is not whether they are right or wrong. So much of a "doom and gloom" group they are. This attitude does not solve problems. Much of their solutions are either impractical or exasperates the situation. It's funny how environmentalists have become a group to mock.
