Superman Returns The Super Boards Official \S/uper-manips Thread! Part 2

I disagree. He may not be Christopher Reeve, but he doesn't have to be in order to successfully portray the Man of Steel. He does it very well on his own:

I think Routh looks very Supermanish and carries himself very well as the Man of Steel.

ya,he's superman now.I admitt at first he didnt really wow me all that much( I guess I wanted a chris clone),but he's won me over now...

None of my complaints have anything to do with his portrayal of Superman, he walked the walk and talked the talk. He took of like Superman, flew like Superman, and landed like Superman. He had a presence about him but also a certain grace. He had that look in his eye that made me feel safe just like Reeve did so many years ago.

I agree with what you said, and also quite like this manip. You fit the adjusted colours into the environment pretty darn nicely. Instead of just "upping" intensity, you kept shadows well in order, and everything (the altered suit and the original colour palette) work well together.

thank you... like I always said: a muted bright color palette can work in Superman Returns.

Last time I looked, the \S/ is red, not yellow.

it still is... like Zorex said, it's because of the reflectiveness of the symbol itself. You can see it better in this manip:

It's one of the reasons why I don't like the shield to be embossed...

It's funny, it's one of the reasons I do like the shield to be embossed.

I like the embossing, but at times I think it came off a bit too shiny for my tastes. I'd prefer a more matte finish, with a stronger red (dark still, but less rusty, with less room for brown-ing in the final cut).

kak, did you do anything significant to the blue?

i personally dont think so... I just made it a darker and richer blue.

Alrighty. I think the blue used in the film was one of the best parts of the costume, but for your manips (altering the red and yellow) there likely is some need for change.
Once again, these last couple of colour manips look great. They prove that point, IMO, that it doesn't need to be the Chris Reeve suit colours to be striking.

I base all my manips around that philosophy...

so wish permission from SUPERSEBAS i manip a couple of his works to what i wish the suit will look like in the sequel

^ This one (from the original manips thread, p. 360 of 557) needs curled-up toes and a jester hat to be complete :yay:

y'know.....with a brighter Red and Yellow, and a slightly larger shield, I think the costume looks much better that way.........

Hello !!!!! I Need That Manip That Someone Made Of Routh And Bale Shaking Hands In The Mtv Movies Awards As Superman And Batman, Thank You Very Much !!!!!!!!!!!!

This is priceless! Go to http://www.buy.com/ and check out the manip they used to advertise their 'best of 2006' feature! If you don't see it at first, just refresh the page. It's clearly a manip because you can tell the \S/ is much larger than the Singerman version. Hilarious!

It does look a little iffy.

you can also tell from the cape attachment...
