The Syrian Situation

There's really no need for the video.

I would go ahead and remove that second link yourself. No way that's appropriate here.

Oh wow... I watched one second of the second video and had to turn it off.
This is crazy...

The second video is needed. Words alone don't do the job in terms of showing the horror of what's happening out there.

Thats awful. Didnt click the second link. Dont want to. :(

Inappropriate for the boards maybe, but the second video is completely necessary. Most people don't realize how serious and horrible these thing are, because they never have to see them. They usually just read an article and say "Oh wow that's bad...I'm going to the funny pictures thread now". Their government needs wiped out, this peace thing isn't working so well.

And wiping out a government won't lead to things like this. Right.

Okay, the curiosity of the 2nd link got the better of me.

I realized I was done when less than 5 seconds in I saw a kid laying dead with the top of his head completely missing. <--- Just some words of caution for those who may be curious.

Not exactly what I'm looking forward to watching on my Saturday off.

In response to "it's necessary, because most people will read words, say 'that's bad', and go off to the funny pictures thread" - yes, that's exactly what we do, because while we as humans aren't powerless to create change in our world, there is only so much one person can do. I try to help out my world and my community where I can, but I can only do so much. I can't fight against every injustice in the world.

Is this awful? Yes. Does that mean I want to see it? No. There are people equipped to help these kinds of situations, that doesn't mean I have to watch every video of every injustice in the world, and try to do something about everything.

Stumbling into a video like that definitely proves without a doubt that all the ****** horror movies I have watched since I was kid have not desensitized me in the least to actual violence.

Hearing about children being slaughtered is enough horror for me, and a sure sign that action needs to be taken. Anyone who needs to see their mutilated corpses to drive the point home needs to work on their empathy.

Words do not even begin to describe the horror.:( Those poor people. There isn't a punishment adequate enough, but I can think of a few places to begin.

What would lead to something better in your opinion? Dismantling a government system that wrongfully imprisons and murders chidlren? Or letting a government system that wrongfully imprisons and murders children continue? Hmmmmmmm :2face:

I could of gone without seeing that disgusting video today but it does put things into perspective. This is going on out there and does need to be stopped . Unfortunately there's not much most of could do or would know what to do.

Terrible tragedy. A real eye opener. The second video is way over the line for this forum. So I have removed it.

I just youtubed that video and all I have to say is what the **** is wrong with people. I just don't get how some people are that sick in the head to be able to do that to someone else let alone children.

I don't know, and at the risk of sounding callous, I don't care enough to waste my time trying to come up with a solution. There are people in better positions to do that. I'm just not naive enough to think that overthrowing a government will prevent this sort of thing.

Horrible **** happens, if not here, then somewhere else, under someone else. All I know is that overthrowing a government will just lead to what that always does: chaos. I'll take a stab in the dark and say that's not what you'd want, right?

It's more about the reality sinking in. It's easy to forget these things are real when we don't have to experience them.

That's horrible. Something needs to be done about that.

The Syrian people want the videos to be seen to show the world whats going on because the Syrian goverment are denying that they are attacking civilans.

You would think these dictator types would realize this stuff doesn't end well after what happened to Saddam and Gaddafi.

That all depends on how you look at it. I'm not defending these actions, but this type of person never thinks that they'll be stopped, and even when they are, just how long was Saddam sitting on the high horse and living it up at the expense of everyone else? Decades, compared to the handful of weeks that things got ****** when he was overthrown. He was a terrible man, but let's face it, as far as he's concerned, his life was mostly good. It just had a bad ending.
