You might want to try VirtualDubMod. You can import virtually any type of video file and crop it down and such like.
I'll give it a try, thx!You might want to try VirtualDubMod. You can import virtually any type of video file and crop it down and such like.
Kewl, I'll see if I can figure it out. It's as free as they come.
Here's a link: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/VirtualDubMod.htm
But you will also need VirtualDub to convert to GIF. It's a long, drawn-out process, believe me...
Damn, it's a bit complicated like you say.You won't be able to. You will need a step-by-step guide, so I'm going to link you to a thread on this other forum I post at. It tells you exactly how to make an animated GIF.
http://boards.outerrimsieges.com/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=3014
Now, open up VirtualDubMod, and click on the grey program logo, with the red symbol on it. (BTW, for some reason, VDubMod only works within the folder it's in. So if you try 'dragging' the program icon to your desktop in order to create a shortcut, it won't operate.)
Once VDM has opened, click File--->Open Video File--->My Documents--->ISO IFO VOB Files. Once inside, you should see an IFO (InFOmation) file, and a VOB (Video OBject). Click on the VOB, or 'drag' it into the VDM window. You your movie chapter should now be visible.
Located at the bottom of the VDM window, there's a slider which allows you to scroll throughout the chapter. Once you've gotten within the vicinity of what you want to convert to a GIF, you can move the film precisely, frame by frame. To do this, just hit the <or> buttons on your keyboard.
When you've found the beginning of the file, hit the left half arrow button which will MARK where the file begins, then hit the right half arrow button to MARK where it ends.
Next, go to Video--->Filters. Click 'add'; to your left, find 'resize' and double click it. Set your width to 448 and height to 252, then below it, change 'nearest neighbor' to 'Bicubic'. Click OK. Now, the Cropping button in the lower, right hand corner will be accessible. Click it, and crop to remove the black bars. When finished, exit.
Now, got BACK to Video--->Filters. Click 'add' then resize again. Choose your final width (somewhere around 280 and below), make sure it's divisible by 2; then to get your height, divide your width by 1.777. This will give you the correct 16X9 aspect ratio (assuming your height is also divisible by 2 -- if not, select the nearest number).
Now click File---Save As---My Documents--->My AVI Files. Give it a name, then click 'Save.' VDM will then automatically begin converting your VOB file into an AVI file. Exit VirtualDubMod.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Open VirtualDub 1.7.1. Go to Files--->Open Video File--->My Documents--->My AVI Files. Select the file you saved.
Now go to Video--->Frame Rate--->Convert to Frames Per Second--->Enter 15. Exit.
Go to Audio--->Check 'No Audio'. Exit.
Set your markers at the bottom, on at the very beginning, the other, at the end (assuming you've already trimmed the file precisely in VDubMod; if not, do so here).
Click Tools-->Create Animated GIF--->My Documents---Animated GIFS. VirtualDub will then convert your AVI file to a GIF file. Exit VirtualDub.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Open GIF Movie Gear. Click File--->Open--->My Documents--->Animated GIFS. Click your GIF file which should then open in GIF Movie Gear and begin playing. Exit the preview, then click Animation--->Properties--->Set Number Of Iterations to 0 (which will make the GIF loop continuously.)
Click File--->Save. You're done.![]()
Now you've got a fully animated GIF which you can upload to sites like Photobucket
Awesome, thanks!Here's a tutorial:
It seems like a venomous task at first, but it's a piece of cake once you get used to it. You just need to persevere, and once you learn how to do it, you can practically insert any DVD, or import any video file from your computer hard-drive, and make some really awesome looking, high-res animated GIFs.
Anton your awesome at these avvys!
Can I ask you which program you use to capture these off the video?
Thanks in advance!

If not i wouldnt mind mind just having the bit of Scarecrows face.
Just a normal gif? Because the whole thing is quite long and doesn't fit to the board regulations. Can I get this entire scene as a GIF please?
