Thing is all those games your wanting do exist in one form or another. Just not for consoles. Red Orchistra is an FPS game set in the eastern front. But only for PC, I also don't know if it has a single player of if it's like Battlefield.


Again games in these eras do exist, just again not for consoles. I have RTS games that are set in the ears of WW1 (WW1: the great war), Napoleonic wars (CDV/GSC's Cossacks 2: Napoleonic wars), ACW (CDV's American conquest 2: Divided nation), and American revolition (CDV/GCS's American conquest). The problem with making a pre-WW2 game for a console is what format do you use? RTS really hasn't worked well (although if the wiimote is good for anything it might be as an RTS cursor). FPS without automatic weapons won't work. At least that's what the suits think anyway. So that leaves adventure/RPG type 3rd person games, like Besthesdas pirates of the carribean, or God of war. Which if desgined well could work. I mean you could make a 3rd person Sharpe game (with Sean Bean doing Sharpe voice natch).



What I never want to see again is cavemen to mech RTS games like Empire Earth or Rise of nations that skirt over how warfare between 1500 and 1940 actually was. Even the pre-1500 warfare is brief at best.

I don't have a good gaming PC and i prefer consoles since I find a controller easier to use than a keyboard and mouse.

I figured. When I was 15 I might have agreed with you. Now, I have a fence post in my butt. I can see the strength and weakness of both. Like a controller is crap for RTS games (CnC games for the N64 and PS1 taught me that), but not crap for FPS games. And the Key/Mouse combo is not great for 3rd person and RPG.

Also you can get gamepads for PC's that have virtually the same button config as a dual shock. Hell you can plug a corded 360 controller right into a PC and have it work. You'd still need the keyboard for some control but not many. The biggest obstical would be getting a decent gamming PC. Anyway I'm not trying to convert you. Just saying that games set in times and places you want do exist.

I know. There should still be WWII games that take place in North Africa, Russia, and the Pacific. The MOH games have tried that, but I heard Rising Sun sucked and Euro Assault was short and had poor controls and it tried to just put too much into 1 game.

Rising sun did suck. However Pacific assault, the PC verision, is awesome. Pacific assual had better story, better maps, better graphics, and better voice acting than Rising sun.

I read somewhere that it wasn't as good as the MOH before it.
