I was planning on getting a PS3 anyway; the question was when. This October was the earliest I would. I actually really excited about the PS3 now. Sony has been getting alot of bashing and negativity thrown their way but finally alot of positives have been creeping up in the past couple of weeks. Just think by this time next year, the PS3 will have (assuming no delays of course)

1. PS3 Home - Finally Sony has an answer to what its been lacking online and it just might be able to compete with the competition. It looks really good and hopefully it will work out just as well. Best thing about it is its free and hopefully it stays that way

2. Exclusives titles - Heavenly Sword, Little Big Planet, Metal Gear Solid 4, Lair, Resistance: FOM, Motorstorm, Warhawk, Devil May Cry 4, Killzone to name a few. Plus FFXXIII (and vs XIII) is expected to drop in 2008

3. A List titles- GTA4, Assasins Creed, Unreal Tournament 3, Oblivion, Burnout 5, Virtua Fighter 4 and more

4. 60 Gig Harddrive- People thought 60gb was too much and couldnt see that getting filled up but Sony definetly looks to want to take full advantage of it. From improving load times, downloadable content, PS1 and PS2 titles (which hopefully will be playable on the PS3 and not just PSP soon), its being put to good use. It wont be long till people will say 60gb isnt enough

5. Blu-Ray - Yeah most people probably dont care if it has it, but HD is the future for media and its nice that the option to be able to play HD movies is available. I know once one has viewed a program in HD, its hard to go back and watch the same in SD. From what Ive read, the PS3 is great as an BR player and it is the cheapest one on the market.

6. SIXAXIS Motion Sensing - I bet as time goes on, developers will find more creative ways of implenting its key feature into games. Though not a necesity, it should be interesting to see how it will be handled in the future

7. Rumble Support (possibly) - With Sony patching things up with Immersion, I think its a pretty safe bet that the PS3 will be updated with rumble support in the SIXAXIS. Its a matter of when and Christmastime would be a great time for them to have it ready by.

This is what I have to look forward to by next year and I think I will be satisified with it. Theres not much to justify me purchasing a PS3 now and I can go out and get one right now if I wanted to, but I think come this time next year, it will be worth the $600 or so bucks I will spend on it. I think things are finally looking up for it

I saw the PS3 Home on AOTS today.
All I can say is:wow: :wow: :wow:
It looks like a next gen Sims.
I need a PS3 now:csad: :csad: :csad:
Anyone have $600 I could borrow?

In all honesty no console has a list of killer games and tons of features 1-2 months after launch, and most have factory flaws and dead systems up to a year after release *cough*...I'm kidding :woot:. People were comparing an X-box 360 that had had a years worth or releases and time to add features to a PS3 that had only been out 2 months. By next year there will be a ton of things that should justify the price, and if they keep going at this rate it will be more than worth it. People just need to learn patience, it's all part of backing your favorite console I guess. If it doesn't have 100+ A games after 1 month and hasn't sold 4mil then it's a failure lol.

BTW, I'm def looking forward to Assasin's Creed.

exactly. I didnt get the judging of the PS3 so soon after it came out. Hell even before it came out. Most launches are rough in the beginning. I didnt see a need to get a PS2 till the summer after it came out. I think Sony is on the right track and just might be redeeming its console.

Hi. A liitle off-topic, but does anyone know when the game F.E.A.R. is coming out for ps3?? I saw in IGN that it would come on 3/14 but then I called Bestbuy and they said it'd be released on April...... Thanks.

reason why everyone dislikes sony because sony is overhyping amachine, that can't do the things they talk about. 4d gaming my ass. and look at war hawk, hyped it up so much like it was going to be the end all, be all game when it comes to graphics and gameplay, was that thecase? obviously not. no one likes it when a company acts pretentious about ****, when it can't deliver everything they say.

Well its a UK PS3 launch game, (23rd March) but then again, some games are being released earlier here to replace laucn games we wouldn't be interested in.

This seems to be the one-billionth "Things are gonna be alright, PS3!" thread :o:o :oldrazz:

Well technically it is the Sony forums, and I think everyone on here deserves these threads after we put up with 2 billion "Everythings going wrong with PS3!" threads that came out every month :woot:.

Whatever... EDIT...

It is just FadingCB :whatever:

Look, honestly I'm done with biting into your attempts to argue. You seem to feel the need to go into anything slightly Sony positive and call everyone trolls, anytime anyone makes a slight comment of anything Sony positive you quickly call them wrong. If you dislike anyone who might actually enjoy their PS3 so much then put all of us on ignore, or avoid the Sony boards rather than put everyone down.

The title is things are looking up for the PS3, and honestly they are, atleast in a few of our views. We didn't knock Microsoft or X-box in doing so. Maybe it is just me, but atleast I'm not searching for ways to knock people, or trolling for arguments. I'm not sure about anyone else, but it is possible to enjoy more than one console, and it is possible to respect the opinions of others enough to realize, heck they may enjoy something I personally don't, so I'll let them enjoy it and not heckle them like it was highschool.

I apologize for the derailment, I won't say more on it, it just makes no sense to go down this road again and again.

Perhaps then it will begin to balance out the one-billionth "Everything about Sony and the PS3 is bad!" thread.

I have a PS3, and am extremely disappointed with it at the moment. It is a big black paperweight, nothing more.

So yeah...

That's fine, you have every right to hate your PS3, I just meant you have to understand not all of us feel that way.

Me personally, I'm watching Blu-Ray movies on it, good games are coming out, home's coming out soon, and update after update are fixing the flaws it has. I know it's far from a perfect console, but it's getting better. To me it's not a paperweight, but I respect your right to believe it is, and have no problem with that.

I do understand the hype here, but I mean, the PS3 has a HUGE hill to climb.

I feel like it has underperformed. Although Motorstorm is a huge improvement, Killzone better deliver on Sony's promise.

I watch Blu-ray on my PS3. In fact, I'm getting Casino Royale tomorrow morning.

Oh, and speaking of calling people trolls, you called me one once, without any previous knowledge of my ways.

Farmerfran...i have a PS3 and love it! i own Resistance, MUA, and Motorstorm and i too am getting Casino Royal on Blu-ray tomorrow for my first Blu-Ray DVD (accept for Talladaga Nights, which i consider to be almost unwatchably stupid unless you like Will Farrell's improve that much or just a rehashing of Ron B. into a southern guy). My only hang-up about the PS3 is it's lack of Customizable soundtrack, which i believe we will be getting this month through the massive update later this month.

what don't you like about it? why are you so dissappointed in it? and what PS3 games do you own...and if you say Gundam is your only game, well, i'm going to have to hurt you...

My two games are:
-Resistance
-Motorstorm

My Blu-ray collection:
-Casino Royale
-Crash
-Fantastic Four
-Employee of the Month

I'm disappointed in it's graphics. I thought it'd be WAY BETTER than 360, since Sony kept over-hyping it.

I don't like it's online structure. I feel Live has already won the battle.

but it's still in it's infancy...of course the graphics aren't gonna be that of Gears of War yet...it took 360 a year to get a game that good looking out...it's gonna take awhile for the PS3 too.

I mean, compare Resistance's graphics to Motorstorm's...Motorstorm blows it out of the water, it's graphics are about the same as if not better than GoW. Just give the system awhile...people are having rediculous expectations here with the PS3 being so young.

and the PS3's graphical capabilities are greater than the 360...it's in the hardware and it's proven.

and of course they over-hyped it...it's marketing, they want you to believe its the greatest thing on earth and that you can't live without it. it's graphics aren't going to be leaps and bounds better than the 360's...but they will be better soon enough...you'll see it especially in the exclusives.

Exactly, what company doesn't hype it's stuff, it's marketing and good buisness to get people interested in a product. The PS3 was indeed over-hyped by Sony, but remember back to the X-box 1. I swear you couldn't watch anything on TV without an X-box commercial or promo on it. Heck, when 1 out of every 3 MadTV sketches involved "Wow, you got an X-box!?!?! That's like...the greatest thing ever!!!", then you know some major money has been shelled out for the coporate ass-kissing a show like MadTV was doing when it's a show about making fun of people and buisnesses.

As for the graphics, I've heard arguments on both sides as to which graphic cards superior, so I honestly can't chime in. I will agree that on both systems we haven't seen close to what their capable of. Remember with PS2 it had so-so graphics at first, it took the system forever to finally step up on the graphics side of things, the newer waves of games look far better. Once developers get a feel for the system, they know how far they
can take the graphics, and know how to take advantage of the hardware. 2-3 years from now we'll be seeing games with better graphics on both PS3 and the 360.
