This seems like a decent place to set up shop...

no one did, but I wanted to discuss the Sin City comics so I came to the appropriate place for it. Why don't you move this to the community forum?

Because where's he fun in that, if you'd like to discuss the comics... Discuss I have the first 5 books :o

*walks in* Movies you be spamming? :ninja:

Don't collect the books Movies and if this turns into a lounge thread and it's outta here

I bought the first one and had the other two... Then I watch the movie and it killed my motivation to read Yellow Bastard since it'd probably be the same and I still haven't read 4 and 5... Perhaps tommorrow I'll read em and get back to you. In the mean-time... I've never seen you before, you post in Misc. Movie?

lol I want to get the other ones! even though I've seen the movie. Nah I hang around the Marvel Comics area.

Ah... I haven't hung around there since the days when I use to buy comics weekly... Which was 2 or 3 years ago :( However I really should read those sin city books been sitting one my shelf for a couple of years now :(

Yeah, I remember I felt really cool reading the books and then watching the movie with my friends! Millar is all around a great writer!

Meh... Sin City is all right in small doses but when you realize it's simply all male fantasy and the dark kind with it's mysogynistic undertones... It gets old after a while... However Dark Knight Returns is still the effing **** :cmad:

I only really started reading these books because the version I bought had the first book in it. I like film noir, even though its more paper noir here :p

Eh, most of the stories, specifically The Hard Goodbye, though good on screen, IMO, was still way better in the comic. There was sooo much wonderful narration from Marv they left out. Even the little details, like how he's afraid of the woods, they should have left alot of it in there. One thing that bugged me the most though was the omission of the narration about Glady's. In the movie, he only barely mentions the gun and happens to call it by its name during the checklist part.

Bear in mind, though, I haven't seen the extended DVD (which I must get soon.... grrrr....) and this could have been in it.

well no one else is posting in here. so we should close this thread

Not to mention the whole monologue about the ******ed kid he knew in school, his visit to his blind mother's house, how he cries in his bedroom that hasn't changed since he was a kid.

I know a few of those things are in the extended version (I haven't seen it yet), but dammit that's all good stuff that rounds out Marv's character, and SHOULD have been in the theatrical, instead of just cramming 3 stories into one rushed movie.

sigh..
