I'm just happy for what this film will do for Thor's popularity. He's always been my favorite core Avenger after Cap.

Remember guys, this is an "estimate", we won't have the actuals until tomorrow.

Thor finally getting the big "solo" bucks he deserves in the awesome solo film he deserves. That's just awesome. Such a great jump from TDW. That's the MCU for you!

Not surprised by the big estimated number. And I’ll bet you it’s revised up when actual come in. The matinee at my local Cinemark sold out while I was standing in line. That’s the first time I’ve ever seen a movie sell out there, and I’ve been going to that theater since it opened. Had to wait an hour and fork over extra for 3D.

Hat's off to the marketing campaign people in charge of TR. Near perfect run and it shows in the results we are getting. They did a great job in promoting the movie, then again Taika's vision really helped them have so much amazing content to use and hype the movie up.

I've seen them be off by a few million quite a few times.
Considering how many movies have come out since box office estimates have been a thing....that's still barely worth mentioning. Quite a few times covers how many of thousands of movies?

If the estimates are off then opinions will be revised. There's no real benefit to waiting to have an opinion until after they are finalized.

I didn't say "wait to have an opinion", I simply said let's remember these are estimates.

This was a good year for the MCU.

Good year for geeks like us but yeah a fantastic year for the MCU. All 3 films were great, I told my friends its almost impossible to rate them now because they keep making better and better films and I feel bad pushing out the older ones. Makes it feel like I'm just in with the new and out with the old but Phase 3 has been amazing.

I hear you. For superhero comic movies in general, I've really enjoyed all five so far and I'm hoping Justice League keeps up that trend, but also if I just look at the MCU alone, they just have to be real happy with the film division this year.

And again, for comic geek fans like us, this is a win all around as a well because a received superhero movie that also does well at the Box office regardless if it's DC or Marvel is a giant "W" for the genre which means we will get to see more.

True.

Spidey and Iron Man were beaten by Thor and Hulk? I don't think anyone would have bet on that one.

I'm not too surprised because Spidey is off of three unpopular films. HC did have good legs, so that suggests a lot of people were rather skeptical of another Spider-Man film. They were waiting on word of mouth.

Oh boy, those are some big numbers. Every chance of it outgrossing Justice League.

I think he's going to be a lot closer to IM/Cap level after this film.

I think he's always been popular since the first film. I think most were just REALLY underwhelmed by that second movie.

Nowhere near as unpopular as Thor: The Dark World.

ASM 2 was less well received than TDW.

At any rate I don't think Thor will match SM:H domestic total.

With critics, popularity means "everyone" not just critics or cbm fans.

It made more money, like 100 million more actually.

I hope so, but JL will probably make a little more than Thor Ragnarok.

Thor Ragnarok had just get the no.1 opening weekend in Japan on period 4th November until 5 November.

I believe it is the first time the American Superhero Movie (particularly MCU) has been able to get the no.1 number in Japan. The 2 MCU films top box office in Japan, The Avengers has been beaten by Rurouni Kenshin in 2012 and Civil War has been beaten by Meitantei Conan in 2016) but this year, with the competition with IT and Last Recipe on the same day premiere, Thor Ragnarok is No.1!! This is makes me very happy!
