THQ going under?

Update from Chief spokesperson:..
"THQ has not cancelled its 2014 line-up, and has not made any decisions regarding the planned MMO. As part of the ongoing review of our business, we have made decisions to ensure that the company is strategically addressing the most attractive markets. As we have previously announced, we have dramatically reduced our commitment to the kids' boxed games sector which leads to a significantly more focused release schedule moving forward. Our slate for calendar 2012 and beyond is focused on high-quality core games and continues to build our digital platform and business. We are excited for our pipeline of original and high-quality content along with our relationships with some of the best talent in the industry."

An interesting thing I found in that article is"The purpose, Dent alleged, was to ready THQ for sale. "I am hearing everything (in 2014 is canceled), they need to preserve cash," he said. Dent noted THQ's stock price is around 66 cents; it was about $6 this time last year."

How can they continue on and try to make"high-quality"gameS when their stock is now $0.66?Their budget for most upcoming games must be getting sliced in half!

I want to see the WWE games go to someone new, but I dont want the company to go under.

They haven't been too stellar since they got rid of their best games ever made by AKI: WWF Wrestlemania 2000 and No Mercy for N64!

Homefront and Red Fraction must have been major **** sandwiches that they wound up eating. I remember hearing that WWE All Stars didn't sell as well as they'd hoped, even though I hear great things about that game.

Darksiders is one of the better things to come out of that joint in a minute. I still play it to this day. And waiting for the sequel.

I don't know about going under... but they're totally ditching Kiddie games.

Good. Their kiddie games are big part of why they're in their current position. I forget what their names were, but they had two or three kid games on Wii that did alright and THQ bet heavily that they would be big successes on the HD consoles, but they sold horribly.

THQ is one of the few publishers that don't make me feel totally disgusted when their logo pops up before games. They frequently take risks on new IPs and are know to give game developers a lot of creative freedom. They also champion franchises like Warhammer that generally have niche appeal. I sure do hope they can pull through this.

Are they really going under?
If they're saying Saints Row is shipping almost 4 million, then aren't them in good hands now?

No their not going under,Look at my last post in the thread&in the same page..Already confirmed it was just rumors!!!

Oh, I see now. Sorry, I somehow skipped that.

Even though it is just a rumor, it's widely known that THQ has been having serious financial problems lately and most people who follow this stuff think it's only a matter of time before the rumor becomes a reality. As I said though, I just hope they can find a way to stay afloat.

Well they just announced that they are getting rid of all of their kiddie licensed games and focusing on their big franchises while establishing new ones for the next-gen consoles,So it seems their changing strategies/saving money/relying on their big hits and whatever else they have to do to stay afloat!!

Saints Row the Third has been doing great, yeah. But they've taken hits. Even on they're good games, that haven't sold as well as they probably should have.

And I think U-DRAW was something they were hoping would takeoff and be able to bring in money. I think it was a shot worth taking, even though it doesn't look like it's panned out.

EA MMA is sooooo much better than the THQ's UFC 2010. I hope Eletronics Arts buys out THQ, so they can make a UFC game their way.

THQ is shutting down THQ San Diego, the developers of the UFC franchise which they just gave up to EA.

They should go to EA and make sure they don't screw up the UFC games.

I guess no WWE:All Stars 2:( since THQ San Diego did it

A month old news but THQ last month performed a reverse split on its stock in order to prevent being delisted on the NASDAQ. Every 10 shares were converted into 1 share boosting the stock price from around 50 cents to about $5.00.

Hmm, this is interesting. Been rumored for months. But finally looks to become a reality? Any chance they close or sell before november?

Well, I hope someone else decides to buy them or something. I'd hate to lose that talent.
