Everyone is on extreme edge about this "Thread Manager" and what it is doing to our forums. And when I say everyone, I mean all of us. For us posters, it's a headache, for the Mods, it's a bigger headache.

So, instead of flooding the lounge and every other thread with hate of the manager, let's talk about how useless it is, in here.

1K? Seriously? That's a joke. The forums that have movies about to come out go through 1K everyday. Now just think when Cap and X-Men: First Class have trailers come online. There are going to be "Rate The Trailer-Part 53" All over these boards.

I know this thing is meant to help with lag issues. But it's really just causing problems and pulling us all apart and making everyone bitter. Even towards the Mods ( I know, first hand, it was not fun)

MODS. I'd don't want you guys holding back about Thread Manager either. It's okay to express how this makes you guys feel. And I'm sure it's making work for you guys alot harder.

Thread Manager's a pain in my ass, frankly. I might rename this thread that, actually.

I call it Threadbot to make clear my hatred of its filthy, mechanical soul.

I'm just gonna ban every member that is the 1,000th post on each thread.

:yay:

But, other than that.....it's a pain.

It's annoying but if it cuts down on Hype lag I'll put up with it.

Remember folks you don't have to put "Subscribe" in a thread to subscribe to it. You can use the option under the "Thread Tools" button in the top right hand corner of the first post on the page.

I encourage everyone to speak freely on the topic, but for those of you who do not know, the Thread Manager was a feature that was implemented without the consultation of the moderation staff with the intended goal of reducing lag.

it would be nice if people didn't immediately blame the mods and start spewing venom our way.

It wouldn't be so bad if we could somehow automatically subscribe to the new threads.

Wait, no, it would still be awful.

I think one of the reasons why this is chapping the rears of many posters is that it takes away much of the creativity and fun that goes into making some of these threads. There's a lot of ongoing threads around here that have a lot of thought and discussion that go into figuring out the new names, or new ideas for threads in the similar veins, and with this bot just closing and restarting them with this "Part 1" BS, it takes that away. Yes, the mods can go back and change them, but that makes them seem like an afterthought, and there's not really any fun in that.

Whenever something goes wrong, and I mean really WRONG, I usually just blame Bamf and go about my day.

He is the bane of my existence.

oh but it's soooo much fun to start throwing mud, getting everything all dirty and... I think it's time for my shower, again ;)

I can understand cutting the post limit. But, I piss 1k. If anything 5K would be..decent.

Fill the posters in. I'm going to ask you guys some questions.

-Who was the person that ultimately made this decision?
-When did you guys first discover it? Were you informed it was going to happen?
-Do you Moderators have any input on changes that could be made to the TM system?

and why is it "Part 1"? Wouldn't Part 1 be the one that was closed and the new thread be Part 2?

It's annoying as crap, and will get more and more annoying....but such is life. Accept it and move on, really. And if it makes the boards faster, than thumbs up to the mods.

I think I know the answers to 2, 3 and 4. The Mods probably found out about it the same time and way we did. Moderators are just volunteers who have a longstanding history of helpfullness on the Hype. They are like the folks working at the local animal shelter. They get to clean up all the mess and may offer suggestions on what supplies are required to do the job properly, but have no real control on how the kennel operates.

Oh god. Imagine if it was still around when Dark Knight Rises gets it's first trailer. We'll all implode as it tries to catch up to the part 156 of ''Rate the Trailer."

We are actively talking about how we can best utilize the Thread Manager. Please be patient.

Dear God.

Rate the Trailer - Part 156... in a span of 2 hours.
