My favorite song is My Friends.

But I think my favorite moment is when Todd reveals himself to the Judge and stabs him in the neck.

Favourite song, By The Sea. Favourite moment? Def "BENJAMIN BARKER!"

I love this movie. I have seen it on stage and love both incarnations (which are very different) equally. This movie is simply brilliant and hands down my favorite of 2007.

The best songs in it (the film version) are probably Epiphany, A Little Priest and My Friends.

The best moments of the movie though, were The Worst Pies in London, Epiphany, A Little Priest, the Johanna reprise (with all the bloodletting), Sweeney's murder of Pirelli and the final five minutes where Sweeney finds out his truth and how he damned himself with his revenge and his turn on Mrs. Lovett is one of the scariest things I've ever seen Johnny Depp or any actor in recent memory do. The final image is also heartbreakingly haunting.

wow words can not describe how awesome this film is

the duo of burton and depp is always a great combination and this film is no exception

been a burton fan for years and sweeney todd is another triumph for his illustrious award winning filmography

johnny depp brought his A-game to the table as he always does

and helena bonham carter was good as the twisted mrs lovett

the kid reminded me of jimmy from
h.r pufinstuf for some reason
probably just because of his the singing voice

and who could forget alan rickman who once again made a persona so easy to hate as the evil judge turpin

i must commend the cast on their great vocals
the whole soundtrack was great but my favourites were

epiphany
and the ''there was a barber and his wife''
pretty women
and the worst pies in london

best lines
''BENJAMIN BARKER''

''you gandered at my ward johanna, you gandered at her, yes sir, u gandered''

'',smells like piss''

''as for u barber it's all too clear what company you keep, service them well and hold their customs for you'll have none of mine''

there were so many good scenes it is hard to choose
i really enjoyed depp's acting in the epiphany scene where he just snaps
grabbing lovett and slamming her against wall then into the chair and running the razor past her throat

and the ending was so disturbing
  • todd stabbing the **** out of the judge
  • finding out he killed his wife
  • dancing with lovett then throwing her into the furnace and showing no remorse as he slams it shut
  • and the creepy final shot of todd leaning over his wife while his throat drips blood
as i said great movie
10/10

Yes. Again, easily the best movie of 2007, IMO.

And "Pretty Women." I cannot believe I forgot that. Depp and Rickman's voices haronized so elagently and beautifully in that. It was both creepy and suspensful, yet serenely nostalgic, regretful and mealocholy. It was truly what Sondheim was aiming for and it worked so well here.

To say that I loved this movie is a tremendous understatement. I've been a Burton/Depp fan nearly all my life and this movie... this movie blew me away.
This is, hands down, one of the best movies of 2007 and Burton and Depp's careers. Everything about this movie, I ate up like candy. Or should I say meat pies?
And who knew Depp could sing? I mean, come on!

I really, really liked it. Well, the acting and most of the cinematography, can't say the same for the voices. I cannot imagine a worse rendition of Green Finch. But overall I didn't mind it. I know, it's Hollywood, they have to hire 'names' who don't sing the style very well, but all selling-out considered, it was still a great movie regardless of the show, though I can't really take the fangirl perspective as I have never seen it live. My favorite moments:

By the Sea
"This is piss"
A Little Priest

I'm sure there are more, but I haven't seen it in awhile. I haven't bought the DVD because I'm cheap.

I've grown to appreciate the ending more and more since I've watched it on DVD. "JUST KEEP ON LIVING IT!"...Depp deserved the Oscar. That final scene was chilling.

'',smells like piss''
That was probably one of the funniest musical exchanges in the whole movie.

"What is this?"
"What is this?"
"Smells like piss."
"Smells like-- ugh."
"Looks like piss." "Wouldn't try it if I were you, sir."
"This is piss. Piss with ink."

"Keep it off your boot sir, leaks right through," etc. is funny exchange. But the funniest part had to be "A Little Priest" with such great lines as "Put him on a bun, because you never know if he's going to run."

But they did take out a few of the funniest lines in that:

Lovett: How do you feel about rear admiral?
Sweeney: I prefer general.
Lovett: With or without his privates?...With is extra.

and

"EVERYONE GOES DOWN WELL WITH BEER!"

Sorry to see those lines missing.

i just simply, plainly, flat out hated this movie.

i'm admittedly not a big fan of musicals, and i'm not the biggest burton fan, so.

but yeah, the whole time i was watching it, i just couldn't wait to turn it off.

So you don't like musicals, and you don't like Burton....Why did you watch the movie?

kinda pointless trying to put the movie down
as pretty much everybody on this thread
is a burton/depp fan OR ENJOYED THE MOVIE

so mr credible's comment equals FAIL

i watched it because it looked like a different kind of musical, a more grown up one. and with netflix, i watch just about anything that i hear is good, or that catches my eye. i'd been proven wrong with my "no musicals" rule before with south park the movie, i loved that.

and i didn't say that i don't like tim burton, i'm just not his biggest fan. he's a great visual director, and sometimes a good director overall, but i'm just not the biggest fan, is all.

you're ******ed. i didn't put the movie
down, i just said i had a
strong dislike for it. i could care
less what you all thought of it, why would that
stop me from saying what i thought about
it?

ps: typing like this is really stu
pid.

" a more grown up one"

I honestly don't understand this comment at all. . .

i don't know... it was a musical about a murderer, i just didn't think it'd be so... goofy, like most musicals are.

but whatever, i'm not here to argue or anything, i just wanted to add my 2 cents on the film.

Okay.. seems like you have a very narrow idea of what musicals are though.

But I digress.

Knock that off, I realize you're defending your corner but no need to resort to insults.

fair enough. sorry darkness.

i just don't take kindly to people telling me i'm "full of FAIL" for stating an opinion.

oh well, no harm done.

i wouldn't say i have a narrow idea of what musicals are, i just don't generally care for them. it's not really my cup-o-tea. i'll give any movie that gets rave reviews a go around, but after this, and moulin rouge (oh god) i think i'll skip musicals from now on.

I'm a musical theatre performer, and I hate Moulin Rouge.
