Cap and Vince discuss whether or not Tim Burton directorial abilities deserve the elusive title of good.

Towards the end of this conversation regarding whether or not Tim Burton is really a good director, there's an interesting contrast involving Sam Raimi. Basically, like Burton, Raimi essentially started off as a cult B-movie type director before moving one to big-time superhero fare like Spider-Man. But unlike Raimi, Burton really didn't have as much of a time to mature since he pretty much only had Pee-Wee's Big Adventure and Beetlejuice under his belt before doing Batman.

Very intresting.

I'd say Burton is better at atmosphere, creating a world and making the audience empathize and sympathise with characters.

Raimi is better at action, storytelling and drama.

Raimi's style is almost perfect for superheroes. Burton's is pefect for Batman.

I loved Batman. I loved Darkman. I loved Batman Returns. I loved Spiderman 2.

Tim Burton's world is cool but too short, i liked every Burton film but felt a bit disapointed with Alice and i'm tired of seein Johny Depp in Burton films, i mean, raimi likes to use Bruce Campbell but i'm begining to get tired of Johny Depp, yes, i liked chocolate factory, but Tim is kind of loosing his touch.

What? Just watch the first Darkman, the rest never existed.
Never hd the chance to watch that one, I was lucky to watch the third when it was on a late after midnight show on TV and I was unable to sleep

I don't care for The Grudge

I sometimes forget that Darkman is the first place I saw Liam Neeson.

Raimi has little to do with that either.

I would give Raimi the edge in making viewers empathize with characters as well.

the guy on the left manipulating the guy on the right into not liking beatlejuice, and by then saying maybe it fits in a bad movie catagory".

and the fact he says his opinion on whether a movie is good is based on his "mood at the time" or how his "wife sways his opinion".

riiiiight... i have a headache just repating what i watched in my head.

end of the matter is, Burton NEEDS to Work with Keaton AGAIN.

And Rami NEEDS to Make another Evil Dead.
