I think this is a work of genius and I love the clever references to his back catalogue. He's literally a guy who's kept on running with his career and whilst this is an obvious parody on the ever greater ridiculousness of political campaigns and those that partake in them. You could easily imagine this really taking off for Tom Cruise and he'd so easily win the vote if he ever stood for election! Yeah, if you really look at Trump's overarching policy of "ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK AND NEVER ADMIT WRONGDOING," he's basically following Scientology's playbook. But maybe if Cruise was president we'd at least have an articulate sociopath running the country.
