Very nice! But the whole thing looks like it's made of cheap plastic. How can they justify the cost?

Well, the only die-cast metal part on the original G1 Grimlock was the red waist/hips area, but I do hope that there's more metal on this MP Grimlock than there was on MP Starsceam. Even if it's just more metal joints.

Cheap plastic. :whatever: Plastic is far from cheap. And they always use high quality on MP figures. As for cost, well it's size for one. Electronics for light up gimmick. And the engineering. Plus it's mean't to appeal to a collector market. So the production runs are smaller, which drives up the price.

Plastic is plastic. You can fool yourself all you want. As for it's size there is no way this is bigger than either Optimus or Megatron so I have no idea what you're talking about. If anything it's smaller.

Simple really, the cost of plastic has gone up since Optimus, Starscream, and Megatron were made. Also the less figures you make in a production run the more the individual pieces will cost.

Also if you think all plastic is cheap you have never actually held low grade ABS plastic.

Alright, I've got a question for you guys.

About 13 or 14 years ago I had this Decpticon Tranformer. He was a big blue/light blue futuristic space plane, and he transformed and had another robot with him, a smaller robot with a black head.

They were both blue and light blue and one had those colors in a camo pattern.

Are you sure about the time???

13 to 14 years ago would have been the mid 90's and in the mid 90's their were no Decepticons.

that was the Beast Wars error and the bad guys were called Predicons and were animal TF's.

Now that you mention it, it could have very well been 15 or 16 years back.

I'm 21, and Beast Wars was popular with me when I was around 9 or 10.

But it was a Decepticon........just some dark blue/light blue space ship or airplane or something that came with another little plane that transformed.

Bingo!

I did a google search and found a couple on eBay. Who knows, maybe I'll pick one up. Thanks for the help.

Picked up Cyclonus today. Very nice solid figure. Easy to transform, easy to pose, definitely recommended.

Got the City Commander trailer add-on for Classics Ultra Magnus in the mail today. Unfortunately, I don't have Classics UM, so the armor is instead being worn by Optimus for the time being.

Awesome -- an Ultra Magnus that can actually strike cool poses.

There's no going back to the G1 version after seeing that.

Although, a little cockpit on the chestpiece for a Diaclone pilot like the old version would have been a nice touch. ;)

that's one of the best Magnus toys ever, this classics line is really something else.

Just a heads up for those wanting an Optimus Prime talking helmet/mask. They're on clearance at most Targets (at least the ones here in Southern California) for only 13.98. I picked up two, hoping to repaint one for a more realistic look.
