Left 4 Dead creator Turtle Rock developing co-op shooter Evolve

Publisher 2K Games has partnered with Left 4 Dead series developer Turtle Rock Studios for the upcoming release of the cooperative multiplayer first-person shooter Evolve for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC platforms, Game Informer reports.

Evolve first crawled out of the ooze in 2012 as a trademark filing by THQ. When that publisher went under the same year, the intellectual property was purchased by Take-Two Interactive at auction for $10.9 million, beating out the game's developer, Turtle Rock, which had tried to keep the game inside its own shell for $250,000.

Evolve centers around a four-versus-one Hunt mode in which four teammates square off against a fifth player, who controls a powerful alien creature that grows stronger as matches progress. The cooperative/competitive gameplay dynamic defined Turtle Rock's Left 4 Dead games, which put players on opposing sides of a zombie apocalypse.

Left 4 Dead is one of my favorites games, so I'll definitely keep an eye on this title. The concept seems like it could produce a ton of fun.

Just read About this title. I'll keep my eye on this,as i really enjoyed left for dead.

Delayed until 2015.

After Titanfall, I don't see myself getting another FPS with no campaign.

Campaigns are grossly overrated in these games where its clear from the jump the developers main focus was MP. Battlefield for example would be better if they'd just scrap the garbage single player portion and focus even more on the MP side of things.

Titanfall has the best gameplay of any FPS I've ever played but MP alone isn't enough for me. I fully respect developers wanting to focus on what's important to them and putting their best effort into that one aspect, but I need a story to enjoy a game. If Respawn could find a way to incorporate that fast paced movement that makes it so special into a campaign, that would be great.

Yea I know what ya mean, but if its a bad story or a story that lasts 4-6 hours that you never go back to, is it really worth it? I don't feel it is. I mean BF4 is a great example where i spent 4 hours in a forgettable campaign, and iv sunk just around 200 hours into its MP. And games like that, Titanfall and Evolve are all focused on MP from the jump and are built around that. The devs know where the majority of their consumer base will spend most of their time and its not a SP campaign. If thats your thinking going into a game, I say drop any campaign and focus on MP.
