United States of Tara

I love this show!
I was stunned by the cliffhanger at the end of ep8
poor Marshall
and damn those alters!
they are really trying to ruin that poor family!
Tara should go back on the meds
at least for a little while
to prevent further traumatization

But I agree with the point TheCorpulentOne made about T subconsciously wanting to protect Marshall. If you think about, Marshall took this one moment he shared with his classmate and was willing to ran with it, as to say "YAY, he's gay, and we can be gay together!", without thinking that this boy might be confused by what happened when they kissed. Whereas Marshall is secure in his sexuality (at least enough to know he's gay, even if he doesn't broadcast it at school), his classmate clearly isn't at that stage. Marshall, however how heartbroken he may be, needed to realize that. Better now then to continue to develop stronger feelings for the kid based on one, admittedly impulsive moment. Marshall will ultimately be stronger for having gone through this sooner than later.

Don't get me wrong I'm not suddenly hating the characters, but they all seem to do pretty dickish things.

Tara - Blame the alters
Max - Where he is so horny he flirts with everything from Charmain to T
Kate - ****ing around her creepy manager
Marshall - Shed Burning
Charmaine - Not believing that DID is real

and so on.
Dude, I think Max deserves a medal. Yeah, he may indulge his fantasies a bit with T and Alice, but he sticks to the agreement that he not sleep with them and he stands by a pretty complicated family with total devotion (up until "Snow," anyway, but he still came back), whereas many, many, many other husbands and fathers just ditch their families for much less.

As for Charmaine, it seems like she's flirting with Max all the time, not vice-versa. I could be forgetting something, though.

I watched the finale today ondemand and all i can say is WOW!! I am totally convinced that if Toni Collette doesnt get an emmy for this show it is just straight robbery

Bumping this thread but this was an fantastic show back in the day and I remember being sad when it got canceled but the finale was satisfying. Just remember Showtime had a lot of great shows from that 2000’s era and I was actually preferring Showtime over HBO while still loving both.

Weeds, Dexter, Nurse Jackie, United States of Tara, Shameless. Yep, Showtime was pretty great.

I miss great dark dramedies.

Also like to add shows like Brotherhood and Californication at least for me those other two as well as the shows you named. Really great time for tv.

Hello my dear old friend. We have enough threads about those other shows so ill keep it to this one. It was SO GOOD, esp S1. It didnt deserve to get cancelled after S3.
