Watched the first 2 episodes already rather enjoyed it, thought it was surprisingly endearing (like Greg Daniels other sitcoms)

I liked it. It was funny, the leads got chemistry and the short format makes it perfect to binge watching.

Loved it! My wife and I burned through it today. It was much better than I expected. Amell is a star in the making. All the cast did a great job

Yeah, I have 3 more episodes loving it so far, it's like an edgier version of 'The Good Place'

I just watched the pilot and I’m pleasantly surprised at how natural and charming Amell is. Where was this version of him hiding before?! I can already tell that I’m going to love this show.

He has really great chemistry with his co-star Andy Allo.

Hmm. Well. This was a somewhat interesting mix of The Good Place, Eternal Sunshine, and Black Mirror episodes like San Junipero and Nosedive. Fun visual gags and some decent if a bit nonsensical world-building.

Can't say I cared for the characters much. About the only relationship that felt somewhat real and interesting to me was Nora with her dad. That Dylan kid is just insufferable and Luke isn't much better. The character development arc for the main character was kind of impatiently handled; he is a jerk in real life (which a late flashback only reinforces) and then he dies and almost instantly becomes a decent guy. I get that events like that can change a person but they didn't spend enough time on the ways he has been traumatized or changed and how that change evolves, they were too eager to get the love story with Nora going. The season finale definitely didn't do its characters any favors, especially Nora.

The plotting is really sloppy stuff unless S2 is gonna tie up a bunch of loose ends. And there is a lot about the world that doesn't make much sense (seems like being an "angel" would be a very specialized job, you are basically an afterlife nurse and the fact that you can look at people's memories and what not, I mean, the security should have been much stronger than what we saw). There are sooo many examples of what you could call plot holes, and I think the show tries to play it fast and loose but unlike, say, The Good Place which can do stuff like that because it has a fundamentally metaphysical and arbitrary world/plane of existence that it happens in, Upload is supposed to take place in a simulation based on human technology ten years from now. Difficult not to shake your head at most of it, it's hard to buy especially when the show throws things in willy-nilly that you're just supposed to accept because TV show.

There is a lot of stuff that should have been touched on more than it was. It is like the writers weren't quite all on the same page. I won't go into spoilers but there are a few plot threads that pop up that should be major factors and in the next episode they are all but forgotten. It's kind of weird and I suppose some of these might get continued or touched on more in S2 but it doesn't change how the reaction (or lack of reaction) by characters to these events within S1 feels less than intentional and more like lazy writing that seems to prioritize one-off jokes and cute stuff over coherence and cohesion.

Still, I watched it all and did enjoy some of the conceptually playful aspects and every once and a while it does get a bit existentially bleak... which feels truthful when theorizing about a capitalism-controlled, tech-based afterlife. I appreciated the ideological division between Nora and her dad and the drama that came naturally out of that. Unfortunately, like most aspects of the show, it still feels a bit rushed and maybe already resolved when more time could have been spent there and possibly led to some truly emotional scenes in S2 or whatever.

But I will keep watching, I guess!

The breakout character for me was Ingrid. I love her messy ass. :hehe: I would be shocked if she does not hookup with Luke next season.

I think the biggest issue I had was Nathan being able to
control the real world with that code viewer thing that Nora gave him. Too much plot device.

I recently signed up for Prime and that was the first series I watched I really liked it I am seriously crushing on Andy Allo she was so good as Nora/Angel.

Need to catch up on S2

I didn't even realize season 2 had released back in March.

Prime Video has set Monday, August 25 for the premiere of the fourth and final season of sci-fi comedy series Upload. The final chapter will consist of four episodes, all dropped at once, exclusively on the streamer in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.

In the final four episodes, “sentient AI rapidly turns evil, threatening to wipe out Lakeview (and the world!). On top of greedy executives, lingering mysteries, plus heartbreak in VR and IRL, our characters are tested like never before. The only way they can get through it all and save humanity from deletion is by teaming up one last time.”
