I would have posted this in the technical support forums but since it is empty i'm just gonna post it here where I know i'll get a quick reply.

I'm doing a couple of drawings to represent a few sections in our school newspaper. I drew this picture by hand and I LOATHE drawing with pens but since the scanned picture has to be in ink then it was inevitable that my once smooth pencil lines are now jagged. I am currently trying to smooth these jagged lines so i can get to coloring and stuff. So my question is, how can I smooth these jagged and crooked lines into straight professional looking lines? Also, i'm using adobe photoshop 6.0- I borrowed the disc.

I don't have PS, but I have a program similar to it. All I know to tell you is to either try playing with the filters to try to get more solid lines, or completely trace the entire thing.

Are the lines straight? If so, use the rectangle selecting tool and 'snip' off any rough edges that look untidy.

You can also use the polygonal selection tool if the lines are curved or otherwise.

Last resort - extreme close up and erase any untidyness pixel by godforsaken pixel. It's tough but, hey, it builds character, right?

;)
