Excellent, excellent, excellent move!

That summer date was far too crowded, this is more of a film for a late than mid-release. And as Cinemaman said, more around Oscar season.

Sounds like Tom Cruise got lazy. I don't think that this will be a good movie, but It will make 100mil because TC is in it.

From the latest issue of Empire.

Lol at Singer. He looks younger than me. And I'm nearly 20!

I for one can't wait for this movie. Nothing like good ol' Nazi bashing.

Hopefully this movie will remind the public of the days when Cruise did more than just spew Scientology stuff, and make him the star he once was.

Wasn't this just moved?

Valkyrie Moved Back to 2009
Source: MGM, United Artists April 7, 2008

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) and United Artists announced today they are moving the release date of Bryan Singer's World War II thriller Valkyrie, starring Tom Cruise, from October 3, 2008 to President's Day Weekend February 13, 2009.

Currently also scheduled for the new date are Confessions of a Shopaholic and Friday the 13th.

"MGM is proud and excited to be presenting 'Valkyrie,' and because of that we want to give it the best launch possible," said Clark Woods, President of Domestic Distribution of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, which is distributing the movie domestically. "When an opening became available for President's Day Weekend, we seized the opportunity. Having seen a lot of the film and how great it is going to play once it's finished, moving into a big holiday weekend is the right move."

"'Valkyrie' is shaping up to be a phenomenal movie," said Dennis Rice, President of Worldwide Marketing and Publicity for United Artists, which made the movie. "We're delighted that MGM has agreed to hold the release until the very strong holiday weekend."

Bringing a fresh and surprise-filled take to a world people only thought they knew, Bryan Singer (The Usual Suspects, X-Men, Superman Returns) re-teams with his Academy Award®-winning "Usual Suspects" screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie on Valkyrie, a suspense thriller based on the true story of the daring and ingenious plot to assassinate the most monstrous villain the world has ever known. Tom Cruise heads an internationally acclaimed ensemble that includes Kenneth Branagh, Bill Nighy, Tom Wilkinson, Eddie Izzard, Christian Berkel, Thomas Kretschmann, Terrance Stamp and acclaimed stage actress Carice Van Houten.

Well these days Feb is less of a dump month than it used to be but all this shifting suggests something is off IMO.

I agree....I just read a report that said Cruise might return to Paramount

The bottom line is that while this may well be a very good movie it's a hard sell, it's German's led by an eye patched, American speaking guy as the heroes and it's not got the once bullet proof Cruise to carry it to the masses.

I agree....I really thought the footage I saw looked good, and hopefully all questions(that the studio has) about the film can be fixed in the editing room. I don't want to see yet another film I was looking forward to dumpt and forgotten.

I foresee Cruise has ruined this movie.

How many times are they going to push the release date back? October was the perfect time, Oscar season, now February? Now they won't ever have a slight chance of an Oscar, but it'll probably make less cash in the box office, Feb has never been a hot month.

Cruise strikes again, I bet he ordered a recut of the movie or something:rolleyes:

this sounds strange.

if this bombs its singers own fault. its a big budget for that kind of movie and it has Cruise in it.

to bad.

I hope that perhaps i am being overly cynical.

 The last report said that Singer has once again went way over budget, Cruise has not interfered with any movies before.

That's just Cruise placing the blame on Singer, if anything's gone over budget it's because half the cash went in Tom's pocket book:o

 His studio is producing....Singer can't keep hiding behind excuses, he is a lousy budget manager.

Knowing past deals he probably hasn't seen much up front money, I doubt that changed.
