I really think this is going to end up being a great movie. For someone like me, there's nothing better than some Hitler bashing. I can't wait for it!

I'm really looking forward to this. Cant wait.

I'm really into films with Nazi's in it....I gotta see it. :)

Has a picture of Adolf Hitler(the actor playing him)come up yet? I'd like to see how he looks in the film.

^^^

I believe he was shown in the trailer.

Reviews, new pics, and the release date change improve the atmosphere around this movie, as it wasn't always so optimistic. Hope everything will go fine

I am reading a book called "Intelligence Wars: American Secret History from Hitler to Al-Qaeda", I like it quite a bit, its a bit dry because it reads more like a college text book(found it at a college book store), but I prefer it that way, more dense with facts than puffed up to be entertaining. Anyway there was an entire chapter dedicated to the story of Valkrie and I have to say I hope this film isn't ****ed by the fact its an American production.

I say this because the event reveals the higly complicated nature of war. Keep in mind the same resistence group almost had the chance of killing Hitler in 1938 but Chamberlain blew the whistle on them in his appeasement policy. By 1944, the British Intelligence Agency (SIS) rejected any real contact with the German resistence and in fact was taken by complete surprise when there was an attempt on Hitler's life on July 20th, 1944. The reason being that they considered the resistance group as simply another nationalistic group out for power. In one sense they were correct the resistence was not "GO-GO Allies" had they succeded they would have defiantely stopped killing Jews and doing the heinous acts of war, but they very much about German pride and the German nation would have been left in tact somethign that the British Government did not want.

Another interesting facet is the fact that the OSS (precuror to the CIA) was in contact with the group yet Washington had similar feelings on par with the UK. In fact the OSS chief issue this statement to the handler dealing with the resistence, "be instructed to play upon this group as a possible instrument of double agents or in any way coldly calculated to promote the success of the invasion, without any regard whatsoever for the German individuals involved, their safety, personal relations to them, or the ultimate effect upon Germany".

And lastly is netiher the US nor Great Britain wanted to damage their alliance with the Soviet Union which this most undoublty would of caused. They were out to completely beat Germany and in the end they did. I really hope all of this is covered in the movie because according to memoirs and personal statements the resistence wholly understood this and the futility of their situation, yet they did it anyway.

Don't know if these are captured from the trailer:

Does anyone think if Singer does succed with this film WB will have second thoughts?

I'm into anything involving history such as World War II, Hitler, and so forth. So I'll see this film regardless of positive or negative reviews.

well its sure going to be fun seeing the cruise taking on general zod and having eddie izzard along for the ride

kneel before me!

General Zod, Maverick, Hitler and Eddie Izzard made by the folks who created Keyser Soze?

Yes.

Kidding aside, this is the Oscar bait film I'm looking forward to the most this year. Bryan Singer is one of, if not my favourite directors and I'm probably Tom Cruise's last fan.

Wow my top three directors might be in line for an Oscar nomination.

Bryan Singer. Valkyrie
Ridley Scott. Body of Lies
David Fincher. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

I think The Road and Changeling could be oscar contenders as well.

there was something about this on Total Film mag, but i forgot to get it, maybe tomorrow.

You're not alone :cwink:

Depends on what kind of success this movie has.
If it's an resounding financial and critical success WB might consider giving Singer another shot . Of course with WB head Jeff Robinov saying that SR underperformed and them wanting to reboot supes , that pretty much crushes SInger's involvement but it's a hypothetical situation :oldrazz:

But Singer would face alot of control on the sequel. With rumors that he screwed up with Valkyrie's budget , you can be sure WB would think twice and give singer complete control

if WB wants a reboot this means that Singer wont direct teh movie.

financial success? hmmmmmm the budget is very big for that kind of movie. i think it will bomb.

That's why i said "IF it's a resounding succes " and "it's a hypothetical situation ":oldrazz:

Of course i know that Singer won't return if WB wants to go ahead with a reboot. My post was simply a reponse to SPIDERMAN117 post
