This movie looks fantastic. Always dug Nazi films. Can't wait to see this one :)

I love how the explanation for lack of German accents really shows how much Singer and the cast really care about delivering the best film possible.

Great article...
Thanks for the scans Anton.

The budget is reported to be $100m, what is not so huge for a WWII thriller. And if the film is indeed so good, it won't have problems making mits money back.

It's pricy yes but when you consider the talent that's involved and all the resistance (no pun intended) the movie has had to endure that amount money seems to make sense.

The movie was pushed up for a few reasons, one was a positive screening that was held a few months back with the added footage. Another was the studio needed to cash in on a cable deal with Showtime that would have expired in January.

Didn't they have to do some reshoots when some scenes were destroyed?

Yeah there was some film that was destroyed, but I also believe they wanted to amp up the action as well. I think they added a new battle scene that took place in Africa. I could be wrong though.

Then they should chang the budget information, especially because of all of these re-shoots that usually take a lot of money to accomplish.

100 million bucks??? the film was meant to be shot for like 40 or 50 tops as a smaller budget feature of Singer... jesus this idiot doesn't know how to spend money at all properly

Although Singer is well-known for his incredible relish for high-budget films, I doubt Valkyrie could have been done for anything less than $80m. And such cases happen during every movie, whether it's small indie or big blockbuster.

80 million was the original budget but I think 100 million is the adjusted budget( destroyed film/reshoot and Africa addition)

Although Singer is well-known for his incredible relish for high-budget films,

Not so, Usual Suspects came in under budget. In fact his X-Men films where pretty cheap too. Also if you adjust for inflation The Thin Red Line and Saving Private Ryan cost as much as Valkyrie did.

Lastly, echostation, the studio's approve budgets, not the directors, you tool.

Usual Suspects was his first real film, if we don't count the indie one, which was his break in. I doubt any studio would give a beginning director access to $30m.

Although X-Men was indeed very cheap, its sequel had a normal budget. Plus, don't forget inflation throughout eight years.

So his recent attitude to the production expenses has really risen up right after making SR.

Usual Suspects cost 6 million.

X2 had a normal budget. It cost the same as Pirates of the Carribean and The Matrix Revolutions. But was cheaper than the rest of them.

So his recent attitude to the production expenses has really risen up right after making SR.

Funny. Honestly, I would think he'd be incredibly conservative with his budgets after SR.

1. he said he will make a smaller movie before starting on MOS
2.after SR where he had 200 milions you would think that eh learn something.

but no...

These days $80 million is considered small.
holly s. The Departed had a budget of 90 milions.

but still he should rather make a movie with 80 milions. we all know that this is not the case anymore.

the approved budget was 80 million, thus he has gone clearly overboard yet again dude_love, if the studio execs approve this sort of mismanagement then they're idiots as well..

BTW, knock it off with the personal insults... you've already lost your point by resorting to that sort nonsensical uncalled for crap on a forum like this so there's no point listening to what you have to say any further... btw, go on, please, insult me more so I can report your ass... come on brother... ;)

Yes, but The Departed didn't have war scenes, didn't star one of Hollywood's most bankable stars and wasn't a period peice. The Valkyrie budget escalated because of a production stuff up. A mistake was made and it cost money. This sort of thing happens. In the end they might get an insurance pay out and it might go back down to $80 million again.

Why the hell do you get so offended over the budgets of Bryan Singer's films anyway?

How are they idiots? They clearly believe in this movie and think it will be Ocsar calibur good. A mistake was made during production, it required money to correct.

I'm sorry but I have to explain that point so many times in the past I'm sick of it. I did not lose anything. It's a fact of life. I could've posted Goatse with the post and I would still be correct. If I did offend you, I apologize.
