On a different note, this happened in MD, and most idiots around that area are very reckless on the beltway and residential areas so it's not surprising.

The driver was coming up a hill and around a curve when he apparently lost control. The vehicle jumped a curb, hit a fire hydrant and then spun into the children.

SILVER SPRING, Md. - A van plowed through a group school children at a bus stop Friday morning, injuring at least 10,six of them seriously, authorities said.

The children, ages 10 to 14, were on a sidewalk near an apartment building when the van's driver lost control, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesman Pete Piringer said.None of the injuries was considered life-threatening.

The driver was coming up a hill and around a curve when he apparently lost control. The vehicle jumped a curb, hit a fire hydrant and then spun into the children, said Police Cpl. Sonia Pruitt.

The driver, identified by police as Sebastian Vasquez, 29, of Hyattsville, was still being interviewed and no charges had been filed, police said.

Yan Deng, who lives in the nearby apartment building in the Washington, D.C., suburb, said she saw three children on the ground after the crash."They were screaming," she said. "They were hurt really bad."

Broken umbrellas, a sneaker and a jacket were scattered across the ground.Counselors were called to the children's White Oak Middle School, said Brian Edwards, a spokesman for Montgomery County Public Schools.
