SEGA ANNOUNCES VIRTUA FIGHTER 5 FOR XBOX 360

Premiere Fighting Game Franchise Makes First Appearance on Microsoft’s Next Generation Videogame Console

STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN (December 21, 2006) – SEGA of America, Inc. and SEGA Europe Ltd. today announced that the highly anticipated arcade fighting game, Virtua Fighter™ 5, will make its way onto the Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system. Virtua Fighter™ 5 is scheduled for release on Xbox 360™ in North America and in Europe during late summer 2007. The game will also be available for the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system on February 20th, 2007 in North America and will be available in Europe simultaneously with the system’s launch in March 2007.

“Those people lucky enough to have already played Virtua Fighter™ 5 will know that it’s laid the foundations to become the clear benchmark for fighting games on all next generation consoles”, said Matt Woodley, Creative Director, SEGA Publishing Europe Ltd. “Bringing Virtua Fighter™ 5 to the Xbox 360™ offers us a platform with power to handle the astonishing visuals, the complex and varied fighting styles of all the customisable characters and will undoubtedly put Virtua Fighter™ 5 into the hands of a gaming audience craving for a highly polished and credible fighting game.”

Virtua Fighter™ 5 features beautifully detailed stages from around the world where players face off in fast-moving martial arts battles against one of 17 characters. Two lively new characters join the elite group of fighters, adding two new unique fighting styles for players to try and master. With more skill and strategy than ever before, players are also given the opportunity to learn and employ the new “Offensive Move” technique to take down their opponents from different angles, adding a new dimension to the game and something for both new and old fans to master. Virtua Fighter™ 5 also includes the ability to customise characters by selecting from four base costumes and a wide range of unlockable accessories and earnable items. As players win more tournaments they will not only earn costumes and accessories, but also prizes and in-game money that will allow them to buy items from the in-game shop.

“The Virtua Fighter™ series from SEGA has one of the most prestigious histories in video games,” said Jeff Bell, corporate vice president of global marketing for the Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft. “It’s a franchise that has grown an army of loyal fans both in arcades and on consoles worldwide, and is consistently rated extremely high by the media. Fighting game fans have been hungry for Virtua Fighter™ 5 and we can now proudly deliver this game with SEGA to Xbox 360 gamers around the world.”

Developed by the highly renowned Tokyo based development team, AM R&D Development No.2, Virtua Fighter™ 5 for the Xbox 360™ will be available across Europe and North America during late summer 2007.'

Someone needs to make a list of previously exclusive Playstation games that are now going to be available on XBOX360, too. :D

Hahahahaha lol!
Now we just need MGS4!!!

I wonder if the other 4 will get 360 releases ? Hey Dead Or Alive 1 & 2 got an XBOX re release & that is now backwards compatible on the 360 & theres Dead Or Alive 3 playable. So if Virtual Fighter 5 is coming to the 360 we need all 5 games. They can also be released through XBOX Live Arcade.

This is becoming ridiculous really fast.
Sony is losing everything...

If they lose Tekken, Metal Gear Solid and God of War, Sony might as well change their name to Sega II.

Thay can't lose God of War because it's published by SCEA.

Someone should make a poll where we guess which exclusive Sonly loses next.

My vote? MGS4.

So be it, but a console can´t survive on name and one game alone, no matter how amazing (and it is extraordinary) that game is.

Yeah, but now I can wait a little longer. Until DMC4 at least.

Didn't see this one coming.... :O

Because:

1. The director said the reason it was a PS3 exclusive was because of the Nvidia GPU, that was sort of definitive.

But most of all is reason number 2...

2. It's a smart business decision

and

3. This is Sega

:o

This is AMAZING news for me as a SEGA fanboy and Playstation hater.

This last week I had been getting really depressed thinking about how next years greatest Sega game was going to be a PS3 exclusive.
I had bought and played VF 1-3 on Saturn/DC back in the day, but when the series moved to PS2 with VF4 it was a tough pill to swallow.

Along w/ NG2 this is my most wanted 360 game now.
Anyone who really knows about beat em ups knows VF is king.
Tekken, DOA, MK... none come close.

Plus it’s coming five months after the PS3 version so I’m guessing it will perhaps be more polished and will definitely have the superior online support through LIVE. Plus the 360 is easier to develop for with its XNA developer ware compared to PS3's complex, and not as well designed architecture as 360‘s.

As for PS3 losing another key exclusive, hahah it's great.
Microsoft have the money to buy these games, plus developers now realise that there is more profit to be made if their product is on both systems. There are now strong rumours that DMC4, Tekken 6 & MGS4 are all 360 bound. This does not surprise me in the least.
It is suggested that MGS4 will hit 360 6 months after its PS3 debut.

I can't think of many AAA PS3 exclusive titles right now, that aren’t liable to come over to the 360, save GT. Whereas looking at 360 you know Halo, GOW, PGR, Fable plus all of Rare's portfolio ain't going nowhere.

I think the real coup de grace right now on Microsoft’s part was securing exclusive extra content of GTA IV. I think 360 now has a real chance of taking on the PS3 on equal terms in this console war.

Well everyone... the Virtua Fighter 5 demo is available on Xbox Live now. Download it and love it.

Yeah, but now I can wait a little longer. Until DMC4 at least.

Or until DMC4 gets announced for the 360. :oldrazz:

Oh hahaha, I didn't even check that.... Well.... DMC4 is confirmed! :oldrazz:

I don't particularly care about DMC4 though. But I guess time (reviews) will tell.
