Wall Street II: Michael Douglas and Oliver Stone are Back

:whatever: Feminists. Women's right's blah blah blah, Woman power blah blah blah, were people too ya know blah blah blah. We get it sweety.

Please excuse my so called feminist attitude, but I guess it was a little too much for a MAN O STEEL like yourself to comprehend, but a REAL MAN would be a little more open to different opinions on how women are represented in film.

After watching the trailer I wondered, what if the upcoming film would try and tackle the experience of greed and corruption from a woman’s perspective working in Wall Street? Wouldn’t a female point of view offer something different? Therefore differentiating the sequel even further from it’s predecessor.

So I hope that wasn’t too much blah blah blah for you to handle sweety. :whatever:

I see where you're coming from here, but I think we should give the movie a shot before we condemn it for falling into typical Hollywood stereotypes. Mulligan's role may turn out to be just another throwaway "I hate my dad" kind of stories, but maybe not. There's only so much you can gauge from one preview.

Also, it's true that having a female protege in this one would be an interesting spin... however, for some reason, in the majority of movies where an older man mentors a young, pretty girl, the director feels the need to throw sexual tension in there. And personally, I'm sick of seeing creepy old dudes hook up with young babes.

I think it’s wonderful that Michael Douglas is reprising his Oscar winning role as the ruthless corporate raider Gordon Gekko, but judging from the trailer it looks like the original movie with minor tweaks in the story along with updated technology.

I wouldn't mind watching a middle age woman paired with Douglas. His real life wife Catherine Zeta Jones could've been fun to watch, but I guess the 25 year age gap may be another issue to overcome in the movie.

I still don't think we need this film. Why sequel Wall Street? The first film is excellent, we resolve the stories, why are we doing this again? Does Oliver Stone feel he needs a hit this badly?

The trailer was good, but nothing spectacular. This looks like Wall Street, only not as good and with Shia instead of Charlie Sheen.

I'm thinking Stone is aware of it and wrote something that's worthy enough to actually film. Otherwise I don't think he would have done it.

Do we need this sequel? No, but we'll see how this is.

I'm just glad that Michael Douglas still has that confident charm that Gekko has in the original. And he has aged pretty well..

Image if Michael Douglass was like how Harrison Ford is now. Groan..

Up In the Air had an older man mentor a young woman and I think it was handled pretty well. There wasn't any creepiness IMO.

then again they had to throw in that ****e woman for clooney to sleep with so that there neednt be sexual tension... plus it was a comedy.

also, If anything that movie was super feminist because the girl couldnt let go of her emotions to do her job right :oldrazz:

I'm going to see the film and give it a chance, of course. But, this is not a sequel I'm uber pumped for. Not like I am for, say, Iron Man 2. I see an Iron Man 2 trailer, and I look at what day it is on my calender! I'm pumped. I look at Wall Street 2, and I'm like "meh, might be good."

lmao i was watching the full trailer for this movie in front of shutter island... and the line where douglas says "easy to get in....hard to get out".. someone yelled "thats what she said.

I'm getting long in the tooth these days...but didn't he have a son in the first movie?

If I read the synopsis correctly

Gekkos son has killed himself while Gordon was in jail, thus his desire to repair the relationship with his daughter

I thought this was a bad idea, but over the last week I've seen both the teaser and trailer in front of WM and SI.

I have to say, this looks really, really good. I need to go back rent the original to see "Greed is good" again before seeing this. But Gekko back and kicking ass as Stone releases another viscous critique and attack on our morally corrupt financial institutions? Count me in!

Hmmmmm....I guess his wife got knocked up before he went to jail or this is his mistress's daughter:huh:

he had two children in the first film, you seem briefly but there is a scene where he is holding his son, who is like 1 or 2 at the time

The daughter isn't mentioned in the first...we see "Rudy" briefly and Gordon mentions him when talking about the Watchman.

I loved the first one and this one looks like it's going to be sweet too. Glad it was well received at Cannes.

Im waiting to see it but I keep wondering: WHY a sequel ????:huh:.....the first movie stands on its own to illustrate the current crisis, I'm afraid this one will just be an update of the original, kinda like some PC software !

Stone started writing it prior to this current financial crisis the country is in, put it down, then started work on it again

Im looking forward to it

I'm surprised of the positive reception it got at Cannes. I know from the trailer, the film did look pretty solid. The sequel isn't necessary, but at least it's being made at an appropriate time to justify itself.

She is mentioned actually. When Bud goes to confront Gekko later on in the movie, Gekko mentions reading her a book.
