Walt Disney acquires Lucasfilm

Not necessarily, my Bat-nipple loving frenemey. There's the people who like the news (but don't love), people who dislike the news (but don't hate), the people who think they like the news but hate it, the people who think they hate the news but actually like it, and the Dutch. :o

Those people are all liars! :argh:

I don't see how this is anything but good news, I think Lucas had run out of ideas or at least become more concerned with the spectacle than narrative and when you are the top guy no one can tell him 'no'.

There are now opportunities for;
New movies.
New animatated movies.
New live action television series.
New Animated television series.

I think this is great news and when you look at Marvel and Pixar, Disney is very hands off.

How full of s**t does that sound?

Of course he'd come out now and say 7,8,9 are the most exciting (immediately implying 10,11,12, should they ever happen, aren't as great) and that 1,2,3 are crap.:whatever:

Yeah I mean George is such a greedy bastard and will do anything for a quick buck right?

We don't need to see god awful motion capture with its uncanny valley dead eye performances that comes with CG humans. I agree that CG overall is more of a visually stunning approach for a Star Wars film, but Star Wars movies must have people that look real, unfortunately CG humans don't, at this time.

Mark Hamill Talks Star Wars: Episode VII
http://insidemovies.ew.com/2012/10/31/mark-hamill-star-wars-episode-vii-disney/

I was referring to the possibility of Han, Luke, Leia, and Chewie coming back for another adventure in Episodes VII, VIII, and IX. I'm sorry, but those guys are all WAY too old to reprise their characters as anything other than secondary characters in a live action movie. But in an animated movie, they can be made to look as young or as old as the animators want them to. And by the way, I happened to have found the animation in Polar Express to be pretty damn amazing.

As for the use of CG in Star Wars movies? Lucas went way overboard with the prequels. Episode II was on Spike TV the other day and for a moment there during the final battle I thought I had turned the channel onto an ad for a new space battle video game. Hopefully Disney will be wise enough to use CGI sparingly in Episodes VII, VIII, and IX.

I think he planned on donating to charity and does donate all the time, we just don't hear about it.

because they were crap. they had really good ideas in the don't get me wrong, but they executed horribly, making them even bigger crap

Yeah, totally not my point, but thanks for reminding me you hate the PT. I got it the first 20 times you 've mentioned it since yesterday.

Still don't know how to react to all this. I found the prequels entertaining, but my favorite Star Wars films are still New Hope & Empire. Clones is my least favorite. I'm really enjoying Clone Wars and would like to see it continue through the early Empire transition period.

And Episode VII? Very very surprised at the announcement. So reaction? Maybe cautious optimism? Would be cool if Mark Hamil appears as an elder Jedi Master Luke ala Old Ben Kenobi. Have to wait and see about developments...

I honestly just can't wait for the debates again. Like when there would be debates over SW or LOTR being the better movies.

"The Hobbit trilogy's the best."

"No, the new Star Wars trilogy is way better than the Hobbit movies!"

"Avengers/Justice League blew both of them out of the water!"

If he was just doing them to get rich he would have made all 12 Star Wars films already.

Does this mean we won't get another changed version of a Star Wars movie on the next VHS/DVD/Bluray/Ultraviolet/etc release?

Very cool of him. Then again, he's always been generous with his money, so not surprising. I always find it funny when some people say he does these movies just to get rich lol.

This doesn't make him a good person either. He surrounds himself with yes men, uses his actors as tools, and fires people that challenge his ideas. Thats why the prequels sucked and why his partner Kurtz left after Empire.

EDIT: Also the 12 films thing is a load of bull. Empires working title was Star Wars II Empire Strikes Back and it featured the ghost of Lukes father as a character. They didn't title it as Star Wars V until they merged the two characters. Not to mention the story became 6 films after Lucas decided to retcon the "other" Luke was to train in VII,VIII,IX as Leia and to kill the Emperor in VI instead of IX. He's a creative guy but he's turned to the darkside a long time ago and he's forgotten the reasons films are collaborative efforts. This is the main reason I find a great deal of hope in these films.
