War Dogs (Arms & The Dudes)

Looks like Todd Philips trying to do Scorsese. Not digging it.

Based on a true story, “War Dogs” follows two friends in their early 20s (Hill and Teller) living in Miami Beach during the Iraq War who exploit a little-known government initiative that allows small businesses to bid on U.S. Military contracts. Starting small, they begin raking in big money and are living the high life. But the pair gets in over their heads when they land a 300 million dollar deal to arm the Afghan Military—a deal that puts them in business with some very shady people, not the least of which turns out to be the U.S. Government.

Holy Hill put on weight.

Well, ****! I thought this was a sequel to Dog Soldiers. :o

Still looks entertaining.

Anyone else looking forward to this? I definitely plan on seeing it next weekend if I have some free time.

I'm checking this out good or bad. It's the last movie on my summer movie watchlist and this will be the first year I actually see everything I want to see.

This looks really interesting. Seems like it'll be able to fit in a double or triple feature with Pain & Gain and/or Wolf of Wall Street.

There were screenings last week, but I dont know when the embargo lifts

I'm curious to see what the reviews think of it. I'm sure the embargo lifts in the next couple of days

I for one am certainly looking forward to it!

I read some twitter reaction. Nothing glowing but some people saying it was solid.

I've learned to not really trust twitter reactions after BvS and Suicide Squad were getting heavy praise...Unless you're talking about reliable people tweeting about the movie.

I'm talking reliable people... Well just 1 guy. DAVID Griffin he does stuff with Collider.com and others
He said it was "solid" which to me means good not great

I do dig Miles Teller as an actor. I know some don't care for him real world wise, but he's got the ability.

Both Teller and Hill are like that for me. Acting-wise, they're fine, but they come off as such assheads in real life. Teller's Esquire interview showed that he's a massive tool and Jonah Hill thinks he's hot **** since he hung out on Leo's yacht a couple of times. Meanwhile this was him eleven years ago:

I don't know if I can handle both of them in the same movie.

Love both of them as actors. Don't really care at all about off camera unless they're doing really bad stufd

It's funny how some people want to give Mel Gibson and Bull Cosby passes. (I Do think Gibson should get another chance) but then say that Teller and Hill are a holes

When you have actors fanboys view as icons they kinda get the get outta jail free card. If someone is younger we feel they're more....like us, I guess. I mean, in any other scenario Tom Hardy in real life would be a massive dickhole the way he acts, but fanboys dig the dude regardless.

Who is still giving Bill Cosby a pass these days?

Sounds about right. I'm not expecting it to be "Comedy of the year" or anything, but still looks like a fun time.

Guarantee critics will complain that the leads are unlike able and that they're making light of serious real life events

Eh, not horrible. But about what I expect from a Todd Phillips flick.
