How does it rank with you among movies this year so far?
Better than Spider-Man 3, better than Pirates, better than 300.

As far as pushing the adrenaline level, it's the best movie thus far. Won't win any Oscars for a thought-provoking movie, but as far as I am concerned, the best movie.

The humour was well placed (except for one or two scenes involving Sector 7), and the robots' fluid movements during transformation and during battles or just simply goofing around were uber-beautiful.

Had a lump in my throat when I heard the words "My name... is Optimus Prime". Golden.

Gotcha...good read.

They say they didn't exactly write the story to fit Bay...but if they knew a different director was attached (Zemeckis for example) don't you think they might tailor it to THAT particular director's strengths?

true

but for one, moments and general theme are two different things

tho they probubly would have more character scene

thing is this isn't the machine for that...the reviews are overwhelming and it's because what it does it does fantastic...taking away from that would make this another one of "those" movies...

tho some ppl have complained about character work tho...
(mostly sec 7...and robots that talk like their in an 80s cartoon)

maybe he'd improve the love story...thing is he may make it more predictable...

beyond that, i'm not too sure about him...again it comes down to scripts and the type of project ur involved in
for example

cast away and forest gump are nothing if not either a secluded character or the life story of a character...
sure he does character work "good"
he also does movies that are built that way

his action wouldn't sell this movie to the 18-35 males tho
the kids for sure

Bay has done an amazing job of bringing out the characters of the AutoBots, i am seeing it again this sunday. People actually cheered when the show started, i havent seen this since Starwars.

I got my ticket for 4th of July and I'm ready to roll out. :trans:

he did a good job with what he had. Spielberg would take that and improve upon it with more story like ESB did for SW: ANH.

Not only was Michael Bay a good choice for this movie, I think he should be the one to direct a live action G.I. JOE movie.

Would be awesome if Speilburg came back and directed TF2.

I can see this from the way he handled the military in this movie. He's much more accustomed to direct a movie about humans than one centered on robots.

After seeing the movie, yeah the Bay/Spielberg collaboration was the perfect choice for Transformers as expected.

If the script for a sequel contains more character development I would love for Bay to direct that as well. He obviously doesnt settle for anything but perfection in terms of effects and realism which is what these movies need.

But the next script better be amazing for that to work out.

Has blind fury even seen the movie?

Yup, he posted a great review at the User Reviews thread. I think he summed it up to something in the lines of a good movie, but not not what he wanted from a Transformers interpertation.

Transformers was not better than 300. it was bout equal, in my eyes. but it was better than Pirates and Spidey 3.
