I've used this site before when I puchased somethinig from amazon.ca. It had a coupon for $10 off a $40 purchase which was a great deal.
I also suggest using forums that are dedicated to this topic. Anyone in Canada should use redflagdeals.com.

Whenever you shop online, Google the store name with "coupon code." Retailmenot.com is a good site to find random promotional codes that you might not know about.

Otherwise, definitely check store circulars. I save so much money on food by looking through store circulars and buying what's on sale.

that's what I do. P&G ppl come in our store every saturday and i try to save all the ads that ppl leave in their carts in case there's a really good deal so i can stock up.

we had a HUGE sale on chicken last week i ended up getting like 30 bucks worth for 1.11 :)

anyone else have any good tips on saving money

i have two coin jars, one is a DONT TOUCH, that i am saving with. the other is a Spend Wisely one, that I can spend when I need. All the change I get over the course of the day is broken down into these. I've got about 20-30 bucks in my don't touch at the moment. i recently started this

I think this only works if you have a job that can do direct deposit, but my salary is directly deposited into my savings account. I have to transfer money to my checking account every month to pay my bills, and otherwise I keep my checking account slightly above the no-fees minimum limit, allowing about $100 if I need to go to the ATM.

This allows me to know exactly how much I spend every month, and I can keep track of that amount very easily. Believe me, I sorta freak out if I spend more than normal. :funny:

I think that's most of my secret right there. (Other than not drinking alcohol - I'm always flabbergasted by how much people spend on alcohol. It's usually like twice the amount I spend on FOOD each month, holy crap.) Otherwise the only things that will truly make a difference are lowering big monthly expenses like rent, car payments, phone payments, cable, etc. See what you can do without.

If we had the FairTax, you would recieve 100% of your paycheck. That would make it about 20-25% easier to save for future, or pay off debts.

Yeah...IF we have it. But we don't, so we have to make do with what we have now instead of pining for something that may never happen. :oldrazz:

A little over a dollar for 30 bucks worth of chicken...dang that's a good deal!

the most recent one was buy 3 boxes of cereal and get a free gallon of milk. and on top of that, you got a dollar coupon off each box of cereal

Geez, I need to go to your supermarket. lol. Everything is expensive, although I usually like those BOGO deals the supermarket near me has. I always try to stock up in those occasions.

Albertson's sometimes has that, but I haven't gotten any good coupons for cereal in a looong time. Or at least any kind of cereal I'd eat. :funny:

I switch between Albertson's and Ralph's, depending on who has the better deal at a given week.

Also, Ralph's/Albertson's had that gift card promotion around tax time, which was an extra 10% on your gift card. I went crazy and got the maximum - $300 on 3 gift cards. I'm still going through my second Ralph's gift card from last year. :o Albertson's did one this year so now I have a buttload of money on gift cards, and a cool free $90 for food.

It was a big dent at once, of course, but now this means I won't have to use cash or my credit card at either place for the next two years. :lmao:

I just found out from Wallgreens, im not sure if its in all wallgreens, but if the cashier doesnt give you your receipt then you can get $5 from them

syphoning gas from other cars is a real money saver

i actually work at a Commissary. We don't have tax :woot:

Ebates.com
bigcrumbs.com - for every ebay purchase
Cash out if you get points for your credit card purchases
drugstore.com is pretty good on savings
Go to ebay first before buying something in a store that's more than staple things. You'll be surprised since it's now a big-time buyers' market.

I think I'm psychic! I knew that was going to happen.

does anyone use igive? its a toolbar that when you shop at certain online retailers, you can get discounts AND a percentage of what you spend is donated to a charity or fundraiser of your choice. once a week they email you with really good deals from their participating stores.

with over 700 stores (dell, planet shoes for example) there are a lot of good deals i've picked up.

i saved gas today by ordering from Dominos online today

also, by using the promo code drinks i got two free 20oz drinks (saved 3 bucks there)

and by using the code freestix i got a free 8pc cinnastix
(saved however much those cost, surely about 3-5 bucks)

try em out

Now you're going to have people being arses and taking only their money from the Walgreen cashier's hand and then running out the front door... :p

www.cheapassgamer.com

They post video game deals. Have to join to see the forum (it's free). Most the time, the deals suck. But there are good ones like when Toys R Us had Rock Band for $120 (usually $180)
