For one month every year, five highly competitive friends hit the ground running in a no-holds-barred game of tag they’ve been playing since the first grade—risking their necks, their jobs and their relationships to take each other down with the battle cry: “You’re It!”. This year, the game coincides with the wedding of their only undefeated player, which should finally make him an easy target. But he knows they’re coming…and he’s ready. Based on a true story, the New Line Cinema comedy “Tag” shows how far some guys will go to be the last man standing.

I didn't laugh hard at the trailer. But I love the concept and the cast so much that I'm very interested.

Game Night didn't have great trailers but the movie turned out to be very good (haven't seen it myself but the online consensus is pretty good) so I'm hopeful that this'll deliver the laughs.

Edit: I thought I saw Zooey Deschanel in the trailer but she wasn't listed in the cast so I did a double check and it was actually Rashida Jones. Huh.

The concept is very interesting, and I love the cast, so I may see this!

Trailer didn't do much, though!

if you're making an R rated comedy you gotta put that Red Band out first

I didn't think the trailer was too bad for not being red band. Honestly, these days, anytime a trailer for a studio comedy isn't completely off-putting, it's a small miracle.

Jeremy Renner’s Arms In “Tag” Are CG

A year ago came word that Jeremy Renner had an on-set accident which led to him fracturing both his arms. At the time it was thought it was due to his work on the fourth “Avengers” but ultimately he confirmed the injuries were sustained shooting the comedy “Tag”.
This week, appearing on Ellen, his co-star Jon Hamm explained the story and revealed that the Renner you see in the film utilised a bunch of visual effects assistance:
“Jeremy Renner who broke both of his arms at the same time. Day three of production. We had 40 more days to go. Keep in mind this is a man who has done a hundred ‘Avengers’ movies and been fine. And he does a movie about playing tag… both arms, like firewood, just snapped like a matchstick.”
Hamm goes on to add that the injury didn’t halt production as Renner wore greenscreen casts that were painted out in post-production and replaced with CG elements to match the rest of his arms. Ed Helms, Jake Johnson, Isla Fisher, Hannibal Buress, and Rashida Jones co-star in the film which opens June 15th.

I need a buddy comedy starring Henry Cavill’s CGI mouth and Jeremy Renner’s CGI arms.

This looks like a fun MoviePass movie.

Did they even out out more than 1 trailer. I only remember the one

I'll probably go see it after Incredibles next weekend or something. The concept is funny.

As far as these typical Warner Bros. R-rated summer comedies go, this is one of their most inventive ones yet. That being said, it still falls under the same trappings of the bunch when it comes to humor.

“Tag” has more style than solid script, but manages to (I can’t believe I’m saying this) use its artistry to be creative. Also THERE IS A SCRIPT! Thankfully this is not one of those comedies that try to float by doing with nothing but ad-libbing. The majority of the time, when the team is playing tag, director Jeff Tomsic successfully makes the viewer a part of the fun where shots are constructed to follow whoever is either “it” or being chased from being “it”.

Starting to hate this movie so much because everytime I click on a YouTube video, there is an ad for this damn movie.

is there any word how this is doing at the box office? I just went to my local theater at 11 for the 11:15 showing and it was sold out. I've never seen that for an early morning screening. Incredibles 2 was sold out but that's not that surprising

They're saying a close race for second between Ocean's and this.

box office mojo, if you still use them. Just take my word for it, I'm usually right. :o

All I see is them predicting it'll take 3rd with around 17 mill. Which is what Deadline says.

Maybe my local theater is just weird

It made $5.4 million on Friday. It only cost $28 million though.

I saw it this week and it was terrible. Talented cast, but none of it was funny. Comedy and dialogue all felt forced. Jon Hamm looked like he was phoning it in the whole time. Even if this was a true story, the way the movie turned it into a movie plot felt fake.

I'm convinced something was wrong with the computer because the next screening was completely empty. And this doesn't seem to be lighting the box office on fire.

Anyway I thought this was good.
For the most part, the cast was funny. Renner should do more comedy. Hamm, Johnson, and Helms played their roles well. Isla Fischer is a comedy powerhouse and it's a shame she isn't used more in Hollywood. It's actually kinda weird. I mean she's funny, she's attractive in a pretty classic sense, she seems like everything Hollywood would've looked for...but I digress. Leslie Bibb was really good too. She was great in the type A, Cameron Diaz in Very Bad Things type role.

The premise is very original for a movie and I think for the most part they stuck the landing.

There were some character who were eh. Annabelle Wallis's character was just sooooooo drab. There was nothing about her. And I get having a straight woman/man in that type of role, but a) I think the movie could've worked well without it. The character was just an exposition magnet. b) you can cast the "normal" straight person in the movie and still make them funny. Hell, they have Rashida Jones who was good in that role in Parks and Rec. Jason Bateman is another example of a someone who can play that type of role and be hilarious
Hannibal, I love his stand up, but he was the weakest actor out of the main dudes.
I also felt like they kept bringing up serious things the characters are going through like alcoholism, unemployment, divorce, trust issues and just kinda plow over them with jokes. And I feel like the movie would've been more even if they just kept them out of it. Especially at the end

But yeah I thought it was good. I haven't read/watched any reviews so I don't know what the complaints are, but I liked this and will watch this again when it's cheap on Blu Ray. Hopefully around Black Friday

Rashida Jones had nothing to do in this film. This role was beneath her.

Isn't her character the type of female tropes we are supposed to view as negative now? She's only there as this trophy that two of the male characters were competing over. She didn't have much development beyond that.

Not going to do a full review but I also thought that this was pretty good and surprisingly heartfelt.
