I Think it protects them both because it looks like Neville had Cena beat before he showed up.

If Cena would have kicked out of that move and won that would have devalued his finisher somewhat.

Um, Neville kicked out of the AA twice, or reversed one of them. He also broke out of Cena's submission. Finishers have already been devalued, not just in this match either.

If anything, I feel like Cena lost some stock because he's had close finishes to a couple of young guys who shouldn't be anywhere near the top level yet.

Yeah I get why it was done and it was smart. I just didn't want it to end. Very solid.
