We have a new Fortress of Solitude

Presumable a rip on Superman the movie.

no think S:TM and SR because thats what it is based off now SV is gone from the comics.

same thing....
damn you singer! your stupid SR is leaking into the comics! :'(

Fantastic :down.

First the one created by the Eradicator, then the Tesseract (my personal fav), then the one in the Amazon, now one based off the damn movies?

I loved the one that was in the SUpergirl arc in SUperman/Batman, which one was that?

Does it really matter?

Yes. its not the design of the FOS, its the fact that most comic book fans, me included like to have a separation between the comic books and the movie, and when we start making changes to accomodate movies, in essence its like selling out.

I don't really care to tell you the truth. The only time they seem to show the FOS is when they're gonna blow the damn thing up again. So who cares how it looks? For a fortress of solitude, he sure has a lot of visitors.

But you know, that's my own opinion on the FOS, or lack there of. I'm rather apathetic about the whole thing myself. I just can't work myself up enough to care about a change to a place that we rarely see to beging with.

I get you, I really dont care either its just what I mentioned before, elements from the movies creeping into the comics, i.e. organics, raised \S/ shields, Scarecrow's look, etc.

It was pretty obvious that there'd be a new, Sunstone-inspired Fortress of Solitude by the end of the arc. It doesn't really bother me. The movie design isn't horrible, although it does seem pretty barren and unnecessarily treacherous, should Supes have any non-flying visitors, and it acts as something of a unifying theme. After the Donner Superman movies, Smallville, and now Superman Returns, people expect to see the FoS look like a freezer on crack, and now it does. Familiarity = increased comfort level = increased sales. Or, at least, I expect that's the idea behind the scenes at DC.

Considering I grew up with and loved the movie FOS, I'm actually quite pleased. :)

you guys do realize that without Superman being in other media some of the things that we consider to be basic parts of the myth wouldnt exist. Kryptonite, Lex Luthor, flying...are examples of things taken from the movies(the serials and radio shows) and added to the comics

True, but that doesn't mean that everything that comes from the movies is necessarily going to be a good change to the comics. I probably never would've read Superman's comics if they brought the slapstick Hackman Luthor in from the old movies.

i dont have a big issue with clark having a son... but i dont want the lame "while clark lost his powers" cop out...
come on... when he sneezes and coughs, does he knock jimmy olsen into the next county? NO. he can control his involuntary impulses... so lets let him have a kid... and NOT because of the movie... screw the movie (by the way, i havent seen the movie and im only SPECULATING that the child is his for those of you who are worried about me spoiling stuff for you!)

that was the first arctic one, it was blown up in Infinite Crisis

ohh, side note, i loved the way the new suit was drawn in the comic, the raised shield and the seemes on the sides, it was pretty sweet, but i dont think pachio (sp) is going to use that.

i hope not! the raised "S" is barf inducing... the seams dont bug me though...

Yeah, I prefer the normal costume. It's worked perfectly fine for more than half a century without the SR bells and whistles. The moment an "S" appears on that belt, I'm going to vomit. Onto my Superman comics. Which I'll promptly throw away.

i would promptly insert those vomit-laden supes comics into various manilla envelopes and send some to DC, and some to brian singer
