Welling Signs Up for 'Teen Wolf'

This will probably be what Tom Welling will be doing for the rest of his career after Smallville - low budget crap movies and straight to video stuff.

If he is lucky. Like, I seriously can't understand how his agent could advise him to take this? After he finishes Smallville, if he wants to get away from being type cast as a WB teen star....he is going to need to take more adult roles. Surely his agent or manager knows that.

Oh well, its not like he has the talent to do them...but still.

Aside from the film being remade at all, changing the main character into a female is their first big mistake. The original relied heavily on the ups and downs of a teenager MALE in high school. The scene in Pamela's dressing room after Scott joins the school play for example. Every bit of tension would be sapped out of that scene if the genders were reversed.

This is why THe Hitcher remake was doomed from jump. Everything that made the original great relied on it being man vs. man.

I couldn't agree more with your Hitcher comment. When I heard they switched the roles, I knew straight away the guys making the remake had no idea what they were doing. That, and the thing looks like its a scene for scene remake from the trailers. What the hell is the point?

Agreed, his agent needs to be released. The Fog, Two Cheaper by the Dozen flicks and now this awful remake of Teen Wolf? Come on.....

Although, his agent probably couldn't get him anything better - like you said, after Smallville is over, he'll probably be hard to find.

I doubt Hayden Pantiere would do a movie like this now, she's on the only real big hit new TV show this season. I know she was in one of the DTV Bring it On movie, but she's too big for something like this now.

Amanda Bynes might work though, her star power is pretty low right now.

About 3 years ago, John Hughes were working on a sequel called "Thirty-Two Candles" with Molly Ringwald reprising her role.

I never expected it to get past that point.

The reason why this will fail, is because Teen Wolf is a movie that could only work in the 80s. It is about a high school student who turns into a werewolf as a metaphor for puberty for goodness sakes. It is the ultimate 80s movie. It only works in that context. It just won't translate well.
