It's needed, though. Writers are mostly treated like crap, especially in feature film productions. That'e not always the case, of course, but due to their job's isolated nature, they're the most vulnerable in the "food chain."

They need to unionize first. Which, given it being related to the tech industry, means they have been fighting unionization at all costs.

I said this in another thread, but I'm surprised a new strike has been taking this long with the streaming wars and all that

Yeah, I think there was a court ruling, over X-files residuals I believe, that involved streaming that I'm surprised hasn't blown up yet, with all the new streaming services and the parents bringing back their old shows.
