So what artists would you like to see draw a batman title?

Mark Silvestri
Ian Churchill
Bill Sienkiewicz

Dave Johnson, Dave Johnson, a thousand times, Dave Johnson (the man behind Superman: Red Son and a slew of awesome Batman covers following NML).

Whichever artist is willing to take him out to a nice dinner and movie first.

Tim Sale (no-brainer)
Eric Battle
Renator Guedes
David Lopez (did some stuff for LOTDK)
Manuel Guiterrez (from Daredevil)

I met dave johnson last june and he is crazy as a loon. It was one of the strangest con expierences I have ever been apart of. It made me and my buddys wanna follow him around from con to con just to learn more of his strange ideas.

I'm not up to the current crop of artists on the Bat-titles these days, but I'm pleased with Andy Kubert and I'd prefer the old school artists like Neal Adams, Alan Davis, Jerry Bingham.

What'd he say/do that was crazy.

One of my jobs is that I work with an indie movie company and we were doing a con last june that he was a guest at. Friday I went over and got some stuff signed and asked about a sketch and he gave me some info ,this whole inceident lasted all of 2-3 mins. Just another fan.
Sat, me and my Buddies Ross and Tom go over to get some more stuff signed and thats when it got werid lol. The convo (on his side) went from zero to 180 in a minute flat. The basics were "oh yeah Canada is great, you guys have a real clean city here.Bush is an idiot...And because of these molicules we can travel through time." lol.
Ok so basically 99% of the conversation and eye contact was directed towards Tom and Ross while I stood on the sidelines (this info comes into play sunday) so Tom and Ross can barely get a word in while Dave goes on about such subjects as string theroy and how it works, evolution, how an issue of 100 bulletts gets made from cover to script to fiished book (which..that story..just wow) Molicules and atoms and how scientist have discoverd a new thing in between the smallest thing we know, and other various "crazy" talk.
The whole incedent lasted, I kid you not, 45 minutes and sprung from Ross asking "So are you enjoying your stay in Canada? What do think of Toronto?" which Johnson went on this wild rant (see above) he had wild crazy eyes man lol....basically ALOT of his look/things he was saying sounded like he was the guy in high school that was like "lets all do a hit of acid a day for a whole month" and his freinds stoped after like 4 days while he actully finished the month lol.
ok now Sunday....I'm behind our table and johnson is walking on the far end of the room when we all hear "Hey man!" and see Johnson walking towards ME. He then starts talking to me as if we were old buddies while ignoring Tom and Ross as if yesterday had never happened and asking if I had ever been to Chicago ,"no" I say and he then gets shocked look on his face and in a "oh my god you've never drank juice before?" tone is like "I cant believe you've never been!" and for reasons unknown tries to convince me to go to Chicago. basically it was the strangest encounter with a comics pro I've ever had and made me like him even more.

Sorry that last part should say "for reasons unknown, tries to convince me to go to Chicago".

Matt Wagner should be given a shot on one of the main titles I think.

I'd love to see Jae Lee do more batman comics as well as Paul Pope.

I, personally, as an art directed individual, wouldn't want to do Batman comics. Not like I don't like them, but the idea of working under a writer and a team of people coming up with the next gimmick to get people to buy comics just doesn't appeal to me. I'd rather do my own thing.

Also, I don't want to be copying Jim Lee's style all the time, because I noticed that what alot people seem to be doing at DC..

Thats why I write what I draw.
And if your not trying to copy another atists look or style than you have nothing to fear.

Also, when it comes to "higher ups" you should take charge even if they think they know "whats good for buisness."
After all, why even higher you to write or draw a book if "they can do it better"?
