Hey guys,

Wow. It's been a long time since i visited these forums. 2 years...

i'll be honest. I came back looking for a litte help. I recently bought an iPad with the main reason to buy digital comicbooks. I'm not much of a collector but I still want to read these stories about my favourite characters.

A quick look through the comixoligy library made it clear that I missed a lot the passed two years. I decided to read the Batman and Robin #1 but got a pretty big spoiler about the state that batman is in right now.

You should know that i stopped reading around the time infinite crisis and 52 were the main storylines in the dcu.

Could anyone recommend what stories I should read to catch up with the DCU? It would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks guys...

For Batman, I'd suggest Batman & Son, Batman R.I.P., Battle for the Cowl, and the Return of Bruce Wayne. Then you could pick up the latest issues on Batman Inc (1-5), Batman (704-709) Detective Comics (871-875), and Batman & Robin (20-22) as well as picking up the first volume of Batman & Robin.

You should definitely read Batwoman Elegy  its one of the best stories dc has ever published with great writing and beautiful art

Also read Secret Six. And Paul Cornell's Action Comics those are both :awesome: sauce

Great! Thanks for the quick replies. I'll definitaly get into those. It's good to be back in the DCU :D

Rise of Arsenal is a pretty pivotal book. It has one of the biggest character defining moments in years.

Prove me wrong. :oldrazz:

Hope you like them :)

Batwoman is my favouritest comic book character ever I hope you like her as much as I do

And Secret Six and Action Comics are fun on a bun

But seriously, don't read the Rise of Arsenal. It will taffy your brain in the butt.

Where does The Black Glove fit into all of this. I bought Batman and Son on Amazon and this title keeps showing up in my suggestions.

I Can't get my app to remember my settings. I want it to use unlimited space for my books but it loses the setting :csad:

in terms of story it goes: 'Batman and son", 'The Black Glove", " Batman R.I.P./Last rites", "Battle for the cowl". the story then continues on in Batman and Robin, the trades are :"Batman Reborn",'Batman vs Robin", "Batman and Robin must die!" aswell as in "The Return of Bruce Wayne" mini.

I know it may seem like a lot of reading but trust me the pay off is well worth it, easily the best batman story of the last 10 years

Well, first paycheck I get this summer, we'll be trying to fix the fact that I haven't read any of it. Thanks, guys!

Wow. Thanx for the feedback guys. Got a lot of catching up to do...

I would avoid Battle for the Cowl or anything else that has Jason Todd that isn't written by Winick. There seems to have been a lot of issues published since the return of Bruce Wayne, but I guess the important issues are Hush, Batman R.I.P, and The Return of Bruce Wayne. The main problem with the story line is that Morrison has gone crazy with all of the silver age and pre-crisis additions. Also, if you're looking for a more dark knight feel, then Morrison isn't the guy. I'd tell you to avoid Morrison, but that is impossible. Miller created the Dark Knight that we are familiar with, not Morrison. Too bad it's Morrison who is dictating what happens with batman. I'm going over to Marvel.

If you want to get into DC, I'd wait until September, it appears that DC is revamping everything once Flashpoint is over with new creative teams and new creative directions for characters such as Superman, Wonder Woman, and the Justice League once Flashpoint ends.

Well, Batman R.I.P., then Final Crisis, then Battle for the Cowl, then The Return of Bruce Wayne. :)
