What courses do you think every student should take when they are in a post-secondary educational institution to make the world a better place.

I wish that every student would take a course in economics, because as idealistic as some people are, there are some things that we can't do for the world because it would either result in mass poverty or the economics of doing some things is just not doable.

I believe that if every student had some grounding in the principle of economics, they would not be so idealistic in their thinking.

Some forms of english, public speaking, math and maybe some science depending on the major

I'm sure the logic one was a joke but either Logic or Ethics really should be mandatory.

No I was serious and looking around at the condition of America, I agree with you about Ethics as well.

The problem with teaching ethics is that it really can't be taught in a single college course. It really needs to be part of the educational experience from kindergarten on up.

I think having to take College Algebra and an English course is beyond wasting money.

Depending on the major, I do not want to take a class that needs me to take an elective that I do not need and or want.

Medecine
Math and Science, and some courses in english and in business.

I agree with you on the English courses. I use principles of algebra everyday.

Not to mention ethics differs so much from career to career it would be impossible to teach all ethics for all fields in a single course.

Already taken it.

Did you find the course beneficial?

Does it help you even presently to think more logically?

The over-arching principles of ethics doesn't differ from job to job.

I think stealing, more or less, roundly looked down by pretty much everybody.

Yes, but I doubt that I would need to know how to graph an inequality for my Criminal Justice major. And no, im not going into forensics.

That's why I asked what college or university course everybody should take.

So far,

Economics
Ethics.

Not true. Is stealing to save your starving wife or child's life necessarily looked down upon? Have you even taken ethics?

The question should have some boundaries, for example a Mathemitician wouldnt really need to know how to use context clues. There isnt one subject that everybody should have to take, Economics and ethics included.

But it seriously depends on the major. I highly doubt an art major will need algebra while they're painting, or a music major needing political science while composing music, or a engineering major needing a course on 19th century Russian writers while drafting plans for a big building

That's why I asked what course do YOU think everybody should be required to take and then justify your choice.

The question is really about insight into your self, as opposed to it being literal.

If that's the case then I don't think a SINGLE course should be required by all students.
