Not bashing the dude but I barely see him anywhere. I thought he left Smallville for the big screen or more money but doesn't look like either has happened. But I maybe wrong. Anybody have the scoop on how his career is looking? Do you think it was wise for him to leave? I loved dude as Lex but I had to question why he left when there are not that many options out there for him, in which I actually thought there were but still..........

Very little, he did a viral comedy thing for Break.com a few months after leaving but aside from that I've heard very little.

Perhaps he has just been taking a break from it all after 8 years(?) non-stop on Smallville? Or perhaps he just give the acting up? Or perhaps hes been trying his hand at writing or directing?

Who knows, it has actually benifited the show & perhaps the shows version of the Lex Luthor character in his absence. Even though the Lana episodes where such a weak send off for her character from the show, at least it showed a more sinister Lex.

I'd love for them to bring him back, even if only for a handful of episodes... I'd also love for them to keep it completely hush hush, ie I don't want to hear hes coming back, I want to be surprised in an episode :D

You'd have to stay off the internet then, because there's no way they wouldn't tell us.

He felt it was time to move on, he was tired of shaving his head every day for 7 years, he loves his hair, and if I remember correctly he once said the bald head was hindering him from getting more roles.

actually he been trying to do some more tv shows but they were not picked up and i am sure he probably been doing other things like theater work or other things we just dont always hear about. I do say if he wants to better his chances at stuff maybe do some guest star work on cbs/nbc shows like 30 rock, how i met your mother and stuff like that.

He was in a Pilot for a comedy series, but his part got cut from the final version and I don't think it got picked up anyway, but I don't remember the details.

Since then?

I dunno, I do know he's happy about not being bald anymore. He tweeted about it not too long ago (well, back in Sept) and said he's not going back:

well that was from awhile ago to trip and he has stated in some interviews since he left he really only wants to return once the show is on its series finale and all that. I am sure he will be willing to at least do that for the fans and to close out lex better then what they did with the character in season 8. But yea only time will tell. As for the whole hair deal i said it before if he comes back they could easily try to do a bald cap to see how it looks if it doesnt look right. Just make up a story reason like he is under disguise and his real hair is a "wig".....

I don't think he will come back, unless they can figure out a way for him to not shave... A wig would even make sense given the current state of affairs in Smallville (him letting everyone think he's really dead). I mean, if he's going incognito, then having a hair piece would make sense.

Everyone knows Lex can't grow hair, so if he's got a good wig (I don't think his real hair would look like a wig, but he can wear a wig without shaving his head) it'll be convincing.

yea that is what i mean either say his real hair is a wig or with makeup make it so he is wearing a wig over his current hair and as i said just say he is under a new look. But yea at this rate i do think the only time he would be back is for the series finale.

Let's get serious here, it's not like the show suffered creatively from his departure (the complete opposite happened). I don't really care if he never returns, Smallville should continue to focus on other DC Universe villains which it does really well, though it would be nice for MR to cameo in the series finale.

well yea i and i know others probably thought the show couldnt go much farther without lex luthor or any luthor that matter. though lois and clark did for 3 seasons. But it would be nice if he was still around. But yea more likely then not he will probably only return for series finale.

Bah, I'd like to think he could be convinced to wear a bald cap for 1 episode if he likes his having his hair so much.. or could let him keep his hair & act as if its a wig.. wait, what have I just said?

Anyway, even if he sticks to that & doesn't want to return. It wouldn't be hard to recast Lex for a final episode in the same way they recast Morgan Edge.. you could put it down to him looking slightly different due to corrective surgery? Even then they could go out of their way to try & cast someone who blatently looks or speaks like Michael Rosenbaum.. like the dude who played him earlier last season. He didn't look that bad.

Ya I dont see why they couldnt just give him a bald cap...they do it all the time with people with a lot longer hair.

yea like i said they could just try a bald cap to see if it works if not just say he has a new look. But i am still sure he would be down for at least the finale episode.

Actually, I'm with you on this.

I don't really miss him.

I mean, I do, but I don't. The show hasn't suffered at all because of his absence, they've had a creative resurgence and it's even more awesome than it's been for a long, long time.

I like Michael, so even though I'm sorry Lex may not get closure as a character, his personal happiness means more to me than his character getting a better bow out instead of falling into the ice in the arctic (or sorta getting blown up by Oliver).

ETA: And bald caps always look like bald caps. That's why they insisted the person who took the part would agree to shave. They look awful.

Thing is, we know Lex had the ability to grow clones. So I'm pretty certain he has the resources to grow hair. He could just come back with hair. He could even return as a clone that naturally has hair.

Not with short hair they don't. But knowing MR, he probably grew a blimmin' mullet, out of spite.

Personaly I think they did all they could do with Lex on SV. I just think that in S7 Lex, I'm not sure how to word what I want to say. I think Lex kinda crossed that line of being crooked I guess you could say to being a super villan. I hoe you guys get what I'm trying to say.

MR was the best part of the show, before the 'new era' where the show started actually being good.

I would love to see what the new production team would do with MR's Lex now, instead of the amateurish hacks who were incharge before the revolution.

yea i am sure he has a pretty full head of hair now. i remember seeing a picture of him a few months back from some con or something and it was pretty full looking. But like i said i still think he would be willing to come back for finale. As for how to bring the character back i still like the idea that it was a clone that blew up and the real lex is somewhere else. Plus i think michael is still on good terms with the producers/cast and still mets with them and all that.

Yeah IIRC he meets up with the LA crew regularly.

Man, if Season 10's big bad is Darkseid, screw MR. Don't need him.
