What if Thomas and Martha Wayne had lost all their money?

Say around the time Bruce was like three or four, the Waynes hit a big financial issue and basically lost everything, eventually stabilizing as a middle-class family, not completely poor but still pretty much reliant on Thomas's work as a doctor get by? Would they still end up being murdered? Would they break up due to the stress on their marriage? And what'd become of Alfred? In a nutshell, what sort of person would Bruce go up as under more routine conditions?

Say for instance, Gotham is already a crime-hidden hellhole and you choose to read Bruce's issues as something pre-existing instead of specifically stemming from his parents' murder. Could you very easily see him falling into petty crime? Or maybe he'll eventually have some moment that does push him to re-evaluate things and try to make a difference. He could possibly do this by becoming a regular cop than looking into the whole superhero/costumed vigilante thing.

You could go a few different ways with this but ultimately Bruce has to become Batman in some form. Im reminded of the Batman project from Darren Aronofsky that never got off the ground when thinking of a poor Bruce Wayne.

If the Wayne's were still murdered I think Bruce would still take the vigilante route. At the end of the day his money just made it easier in terms of resources. He'd still do it but on a more basic level. Think Daredevil - but with eyesight.

If the waynes had lost all their money then they would not have afforded to go to the theater. So they'd have stayed at home and watched tv. Bruce would have done well at school and gone to college and started his own business.
Joker wouldn't have had such a bad day.
Gotham would win the 2018 olympics and become rich and prosperous.

He would lose the wealth that helped him travel around the world and learn all the skills and knowledge he acquired.
Isn't Golden Age Batman a normal guy without all the extra special wealth? Or at least he had times being an average person when it came to finance. I think he was a reported until they made him die as Batman who was the police commissioner as Bruce Wayne.
