Tried to start Everquest 2 but it said I needed a video card with a pixel shader

Grapics cards now come out with pixle shaders example mine is Shader model 2.0 mine wont play games like the new splinter cell because they needs SM 3.0

Its all to do with you computer picking up details on the game

The New Splinter Cell isn't worth playing anyway.

I need one to play Everquest 2
With this card or one like it work? I can only use a PCi card

Wow your pc must be pretty old... no AGP slot or anything? and the game specs seem to support SM 1.0 so anything that brought out after 2003 would be fine on your pc (dont get pci-express or it wont work)

really? i got it cheap but im waiting for my massive upgrade in about a year so i can play it by them the next one will be out and my newer system probs wont handle that :whatever:

It's not old (unless you count 1.5-2 years old), it's just a budget PC.

would one like this work? How do you know if a card has
pixel shader and vertex shader support

That one would work, you just have to read the specs of the card from the manufactures site.

Another question you defo have the latest directx (9c)/10 on your computer?

I have directx 9 on my computer

Dell Dimension 3000
I just want to play a demo of Everquest 2 and I need a new card :((

I wish they understood some people don't care about graphics

Any Radeon higher than 9600 or any Nvidia higher than FX5600 supports DX9 and pixel shaders 2.0. You should be able to get a Radeon 9600XT for about $60 and that would probably play it fine.
