What is the universe?

Um, Wikipeida is not the best source for info since any idiot can put in what ever they think, even if it's all false.

What is the Universe. Beyond any thing I can think, I Think about it, and all I see the Vastness of Outer Space.

How was it created, Don't they teach us it was the Big Bang Theroy.

God Sneezed, for the Frist time, and there was a BIG BANG that created the universe. :oldrazz: right?

If it's scientific material, it's usually pretty accurate since scientists are the ones who edit the science related articles. There are others on this website who can vouch for it.

Whatever it is, it's easily beyond our comprehension....which means that religion could be..

.....

The only reason religion is incomprehensible is because it was made by fools to be consumed by fools.

Yep - even Richard Dawkins agrees

I believe like all things in space, the universe is spherical, a never ending sphere that is constantly expanding. Is there an edge to the universe? No because like all planets I am sure gravity or some other mechanism keeps you at a constant curve to where it appears that you are going in a straight line.

i think of it a infinitely dimensional sphere. that's mathematical dimensionality not parrellel dimensionality. which isn't technically a sphere but we don't have a name for it that i know of.

it'd be a ∞-polytope

This argument is lame. Sure there's falsified info on there, but it's not like there aren't knowledgeable people who read the wikis and flag/edit the wrong info on a pretty massive scale.

The universe is not too complex to fathom. It's everything. There. I fathomed it.

You didn't fathom it. We know it's everything, but that's our most basic way of explaining a concept that we can't legitimately wrap our minds around.

It's the whole concept of "everything"- and I mean EVERYTHING- that we cannot get a grip on.

And the same is equally applicable regarding atoms.

Well I certainly pray there's intelligent life somewhere up in space, cause it's bugger all down here on Earth.

:thing: :doom: :thing:

Who says the universe doesn't have an ending or begining?

I comprehend that the universe is everything. I do not have to know everything to understand it. Just like I don't have to get a grip on everything to understand that everything falls into the category of the universe.

Come back after doing some research as to the conception of religion.

Yep - even Richard Dawkins agress

Richard Dawkins is a jackass, I say this as an agnostic. In his interviews he comes across as being completely intolerant to other beliefs. He's just as overzealous in his atheism as fundamentalist religious folk.

And you've completely failed at understanding what I'm saying here...

I agree, I say that as an athiest leaning agnostic and as a left leaning Democrat. I've tried to get into him since he has this devoted fandom and cult following, but at the end of the day, I've just found he is not only intolerant, but can barely even communicate with people.

I saw this video on Youtube entitled "Richard Dawkins owns a Rabbi". Now I've owned many a religious fundamentalist, but he didn't "own" this guy, he berated him. Basically the Rabbi, who was Hasidic, tried to defend his community by claiming the way they taught their children was not indoctrination but a means of preserving their traditions. Richard Dawkins continued to berate him calling it "indoctrination", and even brushed aside the Rabbi's question of whether he indoctrinated his children with anything.

His assumptions are totally faulty. He seems to believe that God is a delusion, which it may be, but then he makes the leap of faith that because these beliefs cause people to lead lives drastically different from his own they are somehow bad people. Like there was something wrong with being a Hasidic Jew.

Richard Dawkins seems to think his "enlightened" knowledge of the world somehow makes him better than anyone who chooses to lead another life.

I think that what you are saying is that in order to fathom the universe you must understand everything that is in the universe. I disagreed.

Am I wrong?

WOAH, watch where your fathoming that thing

Easy buddy, we're all entitled to our own beliefs. You don't need to be going around insulting other people's beliefs, because that in it's own is pretty damn ignorant (your sentence is really ironic). But same goes for the believers in God. If someone is atheist or doesn't accept your religion, don't attack them and don't try and convert them either.

the Universe is a very large place?? is that the right answer?

the big bang started it some think.. but what started the big bang.. its all so confusing

The big bang was started by the big porn video and the big bottle of gin. Also the big 50 dollar bill.

It was awesome the first time, but lackluster once seen on home video without the advantage of surround-sound..
