What is this?

A Mark Millar graphic novel about a dorky guy with a boring desk job who learns that his father, who was just murdered, was a legendary super-villain, and he is now expected to take up the mantle. It's a fun read. I'd recommend it.

All the supervillains also killed all the superheroes.

But, of course- being general stupid **** Hollywood machine again- they took all of that out of the film. Thanks alot Bekmambetov! Note the sarcasm.

A stupid gorefest based on an overrated comic that fetures an eminem lookalike that tells you to go **** yourself at the end.:whatever:

Well, if you didn't get the point of the ending, then I guess you should maybe avoid anything int he comic book world that makes you think.

Superhero stories end with the thought that "Good will always prevail". It's only natural that the villians' story would end the opposite way.

Oh, I got the ending allright, but I'm sick and tired of how overhyped it is.
The whole thing was just a dull *********ory fantasy with a sure $$ potential.
And don't tell me it isn't, even some arse at the Sunday Times even dubbed the title "the Watchmen for super-villains.
It's almost as soulless as Danger girl.
Art was good though (J. G. Jones knows his stuff).

Well, to each his own. Personally, I thought it was completely awesome...and the ending is what set it apart from other books. If it had just ended with him walking into the sunset with the FOX, it still would have been a GOOD, but people would have said it was anti-climactic, boring, or safe. It took a chance, and a whole lot of people liked it.

Unfortuantely, we now have a movie being made that probably won't be even close to it...which sucks.

Yeah, Danger Girl was soulless....Wanted was not. Also, "Watchmen for super-villians" is a pretty high praise, man.

And totally of the mark, even a fan would have to admit that.
For a better "Viliand rule" story, I reacomend Sleeper.
Oh, and I don't hate Mark Millar, I think that the Ultimates are pretty neat, but Wanted's just so overhyped.

Actually, I never really cared too much for Watchmen...so I'd say it is off the mark. I like Watchmen, but I don't share the sentiment that it's THE Graphic novel to beat all graphic novels. It wa good....even great, but it'snot MY personal favorite story.

Wanted is.

Of course, I've been a fan of it since the day issue one came out...I didn't just jump on a "Mark Millar is god" bandwagon. I actually only read Ultimates, then I picked Wanted up (not realising Millar was the writer of Ultimates), and loved it.

Still, to each his own. I don't think my love for the GN will be able to change how I feel about the film and it's many changes.

I'm not saying that the Watchmen is the comic book, and it isn't my favorite either (though it ranks high on my list), but comparing it to Wanted is like comparing Citizen Cain to Face Off in my opinion.
Sure, it was fun, but hardly of the same quality or status.
Heh, that might make me sound like a snob and elitist but I just don't get what people see in it?
Is it the pop-culture references?
Well, anyways, read Wildstorm's Sleeper, I guarantee you like it, even though you don't agree with me on this :cwink:
And oh, Image's Powers too!

Whoa, seems like there's a lot of controversy surrounding its development.

I liked it more because of the referneces to old school comicdom, myself. hHe 80's being the golden era of heroes, the references to Superman's death, and the idea that Christopher Reeve WAS Superman and Adam West WAS Batman, but the villians made everyone forget it, and left them as two-bit jokes....that's what I loved. The villians dissected the Heroes' world and made it what we have today. I thought it was the perfect antithesis to Watchmen, which ended with the heroes doing whatever they had to do to preserve the peace...the villians did whatever they had to to rule the world.

I may check out Sleeper...my pull list is a little full, at the moment, though! I used to love POWERS! Ever since it went to ICON, it just hasn't been the same for me. Pilgrim is a murderer, and Walker is a guardian of the Earth or something? I'm out. I still love the Image series, and pass it along to every friend I have....great stuff.

looks interesting... has some matrix-like effects which I like

Ok, the movie is definitely over-hyped, but the book ain't... why bash on somethin just because it's popular? Putz.

I been droolin for this to hit the big screen since the comic mini-series hit the shelves, and when I heard it was finally in production, I was ready to splooge in my jeans. After seeing the previews and what they've done to one of my absolute favorite comic storylines, I wanted to go out and strangle somebody! Christ, Angelina Jolie as Foxy??? I'm gonna boycott this movie on principal, regardless of how slick it looks!!
