What next for the WWE, does it have a reason to exist?

to hell with your gi joe crap. couldn't shoot s**t:woot: :cwink:

They knew kids were watching so they were trying to be responsible and they still won the battle bad shot and all.

I'm all for talking about the dangers of the business. Even the dangers of roids(as we'd discussed months ago; 'm on the fence about juicin much later on down the road). It's just that a lot of the time; the majority of your posts are shrouded in this "WWE is stupid" veil. I'm more than interested in hearing what you have to say about steroids, any day of the week.

Agree 100%

Starting sentences with "but" and making it a capital is far more ignorant. I will keep pointing the finger and contributing to the steroid Witch hunt. Why?
I think it's quite clear who is "geared" up and who isn't usually.

Witch Hunt is correct. You obviously feel so convicted by your own admitted steroid use that you feel the need to speak out against it. However, at least in this country, everyone is innocent until proven guilty. You can babble on about indicators all you like but until you have a vial with some dirty blood and said person's name on it, we assume they are clean.

I am too. The problem is that Whirly isn't interesting in talking about the problems of the business. He only talks about steroids and who is on them. He has never put forth theories about how the biz can counteract it's other problems like painkiller abuse, alcoholism, depression, lack of time off and retirement funding. He drones on because he wants pro wrestling to cease.

sometimes I think Whirly believes that eliminating pro wrestling will stop steroid and drug use all together....like guys in UFC, the NFL, MLB, dont use at all

A lot of my friends b-tch whenever it's around xmas and the wrestlers get that week off and they do a recap show. Luckily, they fill Raw up with the Tribute to the Troops show. SD is still a recap show however.

So I guess the question(s) should be:

Is professional wrestling ahead of MLB, NFL, NBA, and NHL or behind?

If behind, what does it need to do to reach that level?
--------------------------------------------------------
I for one think it is behind simply because it is a lot more chaotic than the other four and we all know chaos is juvenile, right? That and the other four can be off for 5-6 months and continue growing. The only way for it to reach the same level would be for it take on an entirely different format.

WWE and TNA would need to form a coalition, perhaps called the NWL(National Wrestling League.)

Each league crowns a champion at the end of a season and TNA's champion faces WWE's champion for the title of World Champion.

During the season wrestlers would compile points. At the end of season, the top 16 WWE guys and the top 16 TNA guys would face off in tournaments.

The tournament would be the pay-per-views.

Survivor Series would kick off the tournament on the WWE side with 8 matches at least.

Royal Rumble would be the next round with the Royal Rumble match and 4 matches.

Next would be the WWE Conference Championship. It could be done on RAW or at a Pay-Per-View with the rest of the card being made up of the top two tag teams(via points), the top two women's champs(by points), the top two cruiserweights(by points), and a couple good grudge matches.

TNA would have a similar tournment.

Then TNA's reps would WWE's reps at WRESTLEMANIA.

The card would look something like this:

WWE Champ v. TNA Champ for WORLD TITLE

WWE 2nd place v. WWE 3rd place for INT'CTL TITLE

TNA 2nd place v. TNA 3rd place for X-DIVISION TITLE

WWE Tag Champ v. TNA Tag Champ for WORLD TAG TITLE

WWE Women's Champ v. TNA Women's Champ for WOMENS WORLD TITLE

WWE Cruiserweight Champ v. TNA Cruiserweight Champ for WORLD CRUISERWEIGHT TITLE

...and a few choice matches.

===================================
The point system would be something like this:

singles match win = 1 point
tag team match win = 2 points(1 point to the singles
standings and 1 to the tag)
Triple Threat Match = 3 points
Fatal Four Way = 4 points
Specialty Match = 6 points
Hell in a Cell Match = 8 points
Elimination Chamber Match = 10 Points
Battle Royale Match = 15 Points
Royal Rumble = 200 Points(this ensures that even up to
the last minute - ANYONE can get in the
tournament, just like real sports!
===================================
They wouldn't lose money either because it would be on regular TV just like the World Series or Super Bowl and have sponsors lined up around the corner.

Professional Wrestling has the potential to be bigger than the NFL, MLB, NBA, and NHL COMBINED! They just need the proper leadership.:hehe:

and its garbage like this that makes wrestling fans look ******ed....having been a fan for about 18 years now, I treat wrestling as an entertainment show I watch on TV, no different from "Las Vegas" or "Law and Order"....Wrestling is always going to be considered the ugly ******ed stepchild of entertainment because its outcomes are predetermined and its fans seem to think it warrants more respect. as an NFL,MLB, and NHL fan...I would be disgusted if wrestling was even considered at the same level as actual sport

That's the way everyone, fan and detractor alike, should view it. It's athletic performers creating characters written for them. It's illusion should be treated no differently than a TV series, movie, or comic book. The constant comparisons to competitive pro sports are irrelevant.

I think Whirly's dog was eaten by a juiced up pro-wrestler :(

Nah, my last dog died of old age. It was a gentle creature.

Do I think banning pro wrestling would stop steroid abuse? Only in pro wrestling. Why don't I like pro wrestling?

In a way, it's snobbery. I just find it incredibly stupid.

So, if I found something you liked incredibly stupid, should I campaign to ban it? Many people find it entertaining, it's a live-action TV show, sure some of the actors on the show are using drugs, but the same is more than likely true of every TV show on the air, someone on the show is probably on one illegal substance or another.

I think it should actually be run like a TV show, which it is, take hiatus' or breaks, reduce the number of pay per views to every other month, take a month or two off during the summer. Trying to make it more like a real sport is completely wrong direction.

The fans would go ape **** if they took a month or two off during the summer. They go ape **** when they take a week off. They don't care about the wrestlers. The majority of them don't.

They'd go ape***** because it's a foreign concept right now, give it a year or two and the fans wouldn't care. It's all about adjustment. Fans went ape***** when 24 started to until January to come back on the air, now no one cares because it's the norm. Fans would learn to adjust to hiatus' or breaks, they'd probably cheer the fact that there were less pay per views, I remember when I was watched wrestling in college, I got sick of the once/month pay per view schedule, it's too much.

They should give individual wrestlers a few weeks off here and there between story lines so it keeps their bodies fresh and the program can move forward w/ other stars in their short absence. This way, the show is always on, talent gets a break to rest their bodies and it allows more time for each plot without trying to cram too many stories into a 2 hour program each week.

I don't like stupid things. :word: You misunderstand over the steroids. In my opinion the WWE is defined by steroid abuse. Hogan, Austin, HHH, The Warrior, Cena, Batista, Lesnar etc.... The big stars are only stars, because, they are "freaks" in someway and usually the way is defined by drug abuse.

You are absolutely correct. :whatever:

There are big WWE names that are "smaller" guys. I mean, they'd be small even if standing next to normal people like you and I.

Dwarves have novelty value, like little mexicans in masks. These people will never be the stars that the freaks are. Be they freaks due to an abnormal height or a pituitary problem, like the "Giants" or a steroid problem like Hogan, triple H etc. Even HBK who may or may not use, was not a draw on the Austin, HHH scale.

The problem is that Vince McMahon is a fan of freakish physiques. I think that'll change in time as he gets old and the kids start to take over. Shane seems to favor the natural guys however Steph seems to like the freakish ones. It'll be a toss up. However the company should structure itself around guys like CM Punk and others who are natural and talented in the ring and on the mic. Guys like Khali are a sh-t stain on the industry.

Now you're disregarding their characters. Austin could have been 4 feet tall and probably still would have been a mega-star. He had a beer gut and hated authority; that was his thing. I wouldn't even consider Austin a "Strong" man.

HBK, Edge, Rey Mysterio, and Ric Flair have all been super-popular and they're "small" guys.

No argument than HHH, Warrior and Hogan were made popular by their size. But look at how somebody like The Rock(who has an physique one can attain w/o performance enhancing drugs) can be so popular.

Exactly. Thing's def change once Vince gets transitioned out.

You may be a fan of athleticism in pro wrestlers, but, the main fanbase is kids in my experience. I don't know how old you are so I will make no comment. The kids like Vince McMahon want freaks. They want larger than life tough guys, they do not want Shane Helms type wrestlers. They want Khali.

Unfortunately, it's because kids buy the majority of the merch Vince and his people sell. If us older fans bought more T-shirts and replica belts; I'm sure we'd have more say who's champ.
