I have never been it's biggest fan. I don't enjoy it's "stories", I believe it promotesbullying and many morally questionable ideas. In the light of the steroid linked deaths and the Benoit murder/suicides is it time this "sport" is no longer seen as entertainment.

The UFC for instance provides real gladitorial spectacle, without the ludicrous soap opera. It has a far more wholesome image and promotes sportsman like behaviour for the most part, as does pro boxing which is also real. I ask you WWE, what is it's point?

It's never really had a purpose. It's just very cheap entertainment for many males.

What next for WWE?

They're gonna put this tragedy behind them and keep doing what they do. Entertaining their fans.

Don't expect them to go out of business just yet.

I prefer UFC..wwe got boring..its more of a soap than wrestling

I used to be into wrestling when I was a little kid and then in my 20's during the hey day of WCW/NWO and the WWF. I was even into ECW whenever I could watch it. Pro wrestling goes through revolutions. In the 80's it was huge with guys like Hulk Hogan, Macho Man and Andre the Giant. In the late 90's we had Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock and Mick Foley. Wrestling right now is in it's low point and will be back in the high again at some point whenever they have a guy who goes above and beyond wrestling. In light of the recent deaths of Sherri Martel and the murder suicide of Chris Benoit and his family, I think what needs to be done is a strict steroid policy where just like baseball and football the government unfortunately needs to step in and regulate the actions of all pro wrestling.

Wrestling peaked in 2002 for me. It just hasn't been the same since.

the wwe needs to clean up its act

As long as people have the capacity (or lack thereof) to enjoy pro-wrestling, it has a reason to exist.

But as it stands right now Steroids didn't play a part. Roid rage doesn't last 3 days.

Do people still believe that Vince Macmahon actually died?

The hell are you talking about? WWF/WWE is a Billion Dollar Company. -BILLION-. They've been entertaining wrestling fans for eons. Long before UFC. UFC is a martial art enthusiasts version of such. Fixed or not, and despite your OPINIONS on the federations like TNA and WWE. There are many loyal fans. Way more than UFC. So thats the point.
To continue entertaining the FANS. Which they always do. :o

Was cool back when I was like in 7th grade but after that it went downhill fast...

UFC is boring as hell. 90% of the rounds (of 80% of the matches) are spent on the ground with nothing happening as they attempt a submission.

As it stands right now. Only time and the toxicology report will tell us for sure, but I think steroids are a big problem in pro wrestling and it needs to be dealt with now before someone else dies or gets killed.

On a side note to the Benoit case. Does anyone know the connection with Nancy Benoit and Kevin Sullivan and all the coincidences that have been popping up? I was told a little bit about this last night and was curious on others opinions and thoughts

Actually paranoia caused by steroids can last a lot longer than 3 days and need medication to control it after Steroid use has stopped. I never experienced it as a user myself but I know one person who did and mentioned it somewhere on here, possibly in the fitness thread. Strangely that individuals behaviour was not unlike Benoit in the incident I highlighted long before this case, he stabbed his wife (not killing her) in front of their son.

Yes it is "entertaining". Davey Boy Smith, Owen Hart, Mr. Perfect etc. etc. :wow: no, not really!

Oh boy. Kevin Sullivan had nothing to do with this entire thing. At all. And steroids aren't a "problem" if used correctly. The steroids they found in the house are in no way psychoactive, meaning "roid Rage" would not have a factor in result from the use of those steroids. Which are nationally used by body builders everywhere mind you.

You're mentioning the ones who die to "prove" what? That certain people have bad luck and are not destined to live "forever"? They're doing a job and they continue to do so. Until there are no longer any fans of the "sport", they will continue to do so. It's a BILLION DOLLAR company for a reason. :o

It peaked back in 2002 (like somebody said). Those were the end of the glory days, but I'll still admit that I still watch wrestling.
No way is the Benoit tragedy significant enough for the entire company to shut down, and it shouldn't be.

UFC is great, btw.
Matt Hughes all day.

Um, used steroids have you? I have! They act on the body in the same way sex hormones do although the addition of methyl groups at the C17 atom increases the length of action within the body. Many steroids commonly used like Sust 250 and Dianabol act for as long as up to 2 weeks within the body. Steroids tend to cause emotional imbalances in the sameway sex hormones do in adolescents, the difference being that the mood swings can be more pronounced and have a longer duration. Hormones are not "psychoactive" they do however stimulate neuro transmitter production and suppression and can lead to the "dumping" of neurotransmitters like Seratonin.

The main reason I stopped using them was friends noticed I became very self centred on them, much like a teenager. Although the risk of cancer from Oxybolin etc. also was a worry as was the increased ldl cholesterol level.

Maybe I'm wrong but I tend to think that WWE and WWF and all that is for really stupid people. I mean seriously.

I agree with the thread starter. Wrestling is so fake, and they act like idiots the way they scream at each other. And I also think it promotes bullying, smashing beer cans with your forehead and other idiotic behavior.

Once WCW and ECW merged with WWF, everything went to hell.

I wouldn't miss it if they went out of business.

Pro wrestling is entertainment.
It's no different than a show that we watch on TV.
It's all fake, yet we all still watch them.

Besides, wrestling promotes (other than wrestling or actual fighting) no less violence than a good number of TV shows on TV today.

Mood swings are quite a difference from total personality switching.
