What next for the WWE, does it have a reason to exist?

:whatever:

You're purposely trying to instigate this. I leave you in the hands of the Mod.

I certainly am not, pleae stop making assumptions, as you have shown you have googled the definition so you know what it means. I hope you are not trying to draw me back into an argument when I have apologised to the moderator.

I believe the son was found strangled and the wife was found, with bound hands and feet, with a pool of blood near her head. Benoit was found in his weight roomm hanging from a piece of exercise equipment

Not that I know of but there has been some more bizarre news regarding the killings and some more understanding of how Benoit really was at home, including a very gruesome speculation that Benoit may have used a form of the "crippler crossface" on his son.

Well damn. I never liked WWC and I never really watched WWE after the title change, but I did meet him, and I would never have gained the impression of one who would merc out his own family. Though, I did get the vibe of someone who wasn't...."Balanced" when he shook my hand.

Regardless, the whole situation is tragic and provides those that are anti-pro wrestling with a whole lot of ammo. Like i had said before, i think the longer this goes on, this will become less and less about the tragedy and more about ex-employees and wrestling critics using the media to crucify the WWE and Vince McMahon

Well obviously something has to be done and if the media forces this into the spotlight by being anti-wrestling and going after McMahon, so be it. Changes need to be made, the more people know about them and discuss them, hopefully the faster the process is.

that's right...if issues like drug abuse and domestic violence can be bought to the forefront that's fine. but in the ends it's all about choice. People choose to take drugs, people choose to smack around their wife and or kids. if anything this might force the WWE to re-evaluate their grueling road schedule and/or a more strict drug policy, maybe even some counseling help.

i have always been a wrestling fan and i'm 24, but i will say that it has changed over the years as have i, when i was young i watch it all and enjoy the majority of it( though i knew from an early age that it wasn't real, mainly due to my parents explaining the difference between the reality of the wrestlers as people and there on screen character.

but as i have grew up and maturated i have learned to enjoy it in different ways i can watch a 2 hour programme and anything i find stupid or ridiculous can fast forward or ignore. but i have also learned to appreciate the effort and training these athletes put into the performance and how they go to great length to make sure they don't injure each other

on the subject of the whole gay thing, you can find gay undertones in almost anything, so that a tired old stereotype that people pull out to simple bash wrestling. as others have stated there are the divas and female wrestlers whole cater to the t&a aspect. if you find body builders attractive then more power to you but personally i'll stick to the likes of trish stratus, stacy kiebler or maria

to me its like any other form of entertainment i enjoy, i know the difference between the fiction an the reality and the two never mix, I've been to a live event and the atmosphere is amazing, yes there are moronic wankers in the fandom, but you get that in everything, football hooligans etc. sadly thats a fact of life, but to basically put all the fans of one form of entertainment into a single category is almost a stupid as the fans who take the entertainment too seriously in the first place

Yea, what he said...could not have said it any better

I have never been it's biggest fan. I don't enjoy it's "stories", I believe it promotesbullying and many morally questionable ideas. In the light of the steroid linked deaths and the Benoit murder/suicides is it time this "sport" is no longer seen as entertainment.

The UFC for instance provides real gladitorial spectacle, without the ludicrous soap opera. It has a far more wholesome image and promotes sportsman like behaviour for the most part, as does pro boxing which is also real. I ask you WWE, what is it's point?

Maybe we should stop having police officers too then?

dont be a dumbass, dumbass

I dont really call the WWF wrestling, real matches are done by who is more skilled. Not by who is more popular, ive also seen documentries that debunk "wrestling moves" and how they are actors mostly.

They are actors by their own admission. the WWE often refers to itself as sports entertainment as opposed to "wrestling"

Exactly, so what's it's point except to promote "might makes right" to gullible fools and promote the use of steroids?

Do you wake up in the morning and think about how you're gonna hate wrestling fans? The intent of this thread baffles me.

If we all stop posting in it, it will just die. So on the count of three: one, two, three.

No, I don't hate them, that would be a strange thing to do and bring myself down to the level of the characters in the strange soap orpera they like. I am sure the fans are nice people...... If a little special.

You're a referee? No wonder you are biased.

Here's a typical fan, do any of you know him?

Some people say the same thing about comic book fans.
