What Was the Last Movie You Watched?

I thought you'd watch the Disney animated Hunchback of Notre-Dame to go along with your Hunchback of Notre-Dame movies list.

I had planned to....when I went to get it, it wasn't there. My daughter has all the Disney movies in her room....no telling where it is in there.

Midsommar

Some scenes are way over the top with violence and sex so much so i and the audience started to laugh...but maybe the Director and writers wanted that from the audience(?)

I read that the film was originally a lot longer and rougher....that it had been given a rating of NC-17....but they did cuts to get an R and a decent run time.

Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol

Just got Rogue Nation left now to complete my (out of order) marathon. Really love this one. The final 3 films are going to have to duke it out to be called my favourite. I’d also love to see Patton and Renner return to the franchise.

The Best of Enemies

Pretty mediocre and tonally deaf. It's basically got all the feel and vibes of a history movie made for classrooms in high school. I gotta say, lot of the things Green Book was criticized for was way more felt in this movie. It's more concerned about Sam Rockwell's character and his story than it does Taraji P. Henson's character. Even though it's based on real life events, a lot of the movie feels superficial like a tv movie. There's no real emotional punch and even when there is something, it's used as a shorthand to move the plot along. Overall, it's a weak film despite some good performances.

Always Be My Maybe

A somewhat average romcom that doesn't have a whole lot of meat to it. It starts off pretty strong, but it loses momentum in the 2nd act. I feel like they had something there storywise, but a lot of it never felt fully developed. Even when they introduced Keanu Reeves, the movie starts to meander a lot. Ali Wong and Randall Park are the only aspect that saves this movie and their chemistry does fit pretty well. Overall, it's a average romcom that could have been so much better.

Gloria Bell

Pretty solid. It's a well made adult drama that is a character study about a woman going through divorce and a midlife crisis. Julianne Moore's performance was incredible and John Turturro was fantastic in this. I didn't see the original, but a lot of ways this reminded me of Take This Waltz which has similar themes. Overall, it's a movie worth checking if you need something that doesn't involve superheroes and CGI.

I can understand laughing a bit at over the top violence if it really is that over the top but when people laugh at sex scenes or even nudity for that matter I just don't get it.

Watchmen was the biggest example. Little chuckles and snickers in the theater whenever Doctor Manhattan's genitalia were showing as well as during the sex scene between Night Owl and Silk Spectre.
