Angel Has Fallen

Secret service agent Mike Banning (Gerard Butler) returns and this time he's bringing his Dad.

PRAISE: This basic story of Banning being betrayed and set up for an attempt on the Presidents life has some highlights. Some good one liners and action sequences...oh how things BLOW up so good !! I smiled big time as explosions went off like an extended fireworks display. At least they didnt use a stand in for Morgan Freeman this time around.Nick Nolte was a welcome presence !! Oh and Butler gives it his all.Im sorry but i laughed so hard when the baby in the film was either truly scared or is the best child actor ever !!

PROBLEMS: ULTRA PREDICTABLE SCRIPT !! It's funny how much the movie hits the audience over the head about facts about a character then wants the audience to forget these facts 30 minutes later.
So many actors collect easy paychecks Piper Perabo, Jada Pinkett Smith and Freeman.
The visuals go down hill in the movie .Sometimes i either couldnt see what was going on and other times the green screen looked worse than any low budget movie i have ever watched.

Oh and that end credits scene....WHY?!?

This will likely be the last FALLEN movie if they do make another it will likely go straight to DVD and probably wont even star Butler

Scale of 1-10 a 5

In my opinion....this was a steaming pile of horse crap.

The Princess And The Frog

The Lion King '94

I have no real urge to see the remake. Just feels soulless. Eventually I'll watch it, but priority is low.

Teen Spirit

I really dug it. It's essentially a neon-fueled rise to stardom movie that deals with a singing competition. This has all the cliche trappings and a plot that you've seen countless times before, but it's got a neo-80s flare and style to it that keeps your interest afloat. For the most part I thought Elle Fanning was phenomenal, it's a similar performance to Neon Demon, but whenever she has to sing, it's got full of emotion. The singing montages are by far the best part of the movie, they really do feel like extremely well edited music videos. Also, I dug the music choices they picked. Overall, it's not perfect but definitely worth checking out if you are into movies like Drive and A Star is Born.

The Amazing Johnathan Documentary

By far one of the most bizarre documentaries I've seen since Tickled. It starts off pretty normal when it talks about the life of The Amazing Johnathan who was a pretty fun magician/comedian of his time who's dying due to a heart condition. Soon after that is where the documentary takes a turn that I didn't see coming. Without really spoiling it, the documentary kinda becomes more about the director and less about the Amazing Johnathan. It's almost like a meta commentary about the popularity of documentaries. You start to question everything about how this got made in the first place. Overall, It's a fascinating watch even if it becomes suspect early on.

Blinded by the Light

A predictable but charming ode to Bruce Springsteen's music that's also a coming of age film. It almost feels like it was made in a different time period because it's so non cynical and straightforward... you forget movies used to be made like this. They also do a pretty good job portraying a Pakistani family living in the Thatcher-era England that doesn't go for the basic south Asian stereotypes. I thought the cast did a pretty good job and Viveik Kalra did a fine job as the lead. Probably the most interesting thing this movie had were the themes of immigration and xenophobia that are still relevant to today. Overall, it's a moderately enjoyable rock ballad that really has something to say.

American Factory

It's a fascinating documentary that takes a look inside the failing American factory industry and the global and cultural differences when a Chinese company takes it over. They do a good job putting the focus on everyone from the top bosses to the workers. There's a lot of clashing ideologies that make the documentary that more nuanced and layered. The theme is ultimately about labor unions and what that will mean in the future. Overall, it's totally worth a watch.

Ready or Not

Loved it. It's a incredibly well done horror comedy by Radio Silence that's got all the ingredients to make it instantly rewatchable. It feels like a combination of all the best parts of Clue, Cabin in the Woods, and You're Next. Samara Weaving is officially a scream queen, it's by far the best and most challenging role she's been in. They do a great job making you root for her the entire time. Because of their incompetence, a lot of the comedy comes from the family who's trying to kill Samara Weaving. There's a lot of great timed jokes that happen throughout as well as some gory moments. Overall, it's one of my favorite movies of the year, it's got everything.

Sorry to Bother You

Fun, just a plain fun movie. Dark, weird, crazy and above all fun.

Quite hard to explain. But a down on his luck bloke, finds his calling at a tele-marketing company. Que white voices, horses, and Danny Glover.

Strong 8/10 from me.
