I still really enjoy this movie!

Six Days, Seven Nights

Comedy isn't Harrison Ford's forte but this film gets by with a breezy back and forth with Anne Heche. The plot isn't important and the film doesn't have much to it. It's acceptable as a lightweight romantic comedy. Nothing more.

The Amaranth (2018):down (drama sci-fi/horror like an episode of Tales From The Crypt)
Booksmart (2019):down (comedy like Superbad with young ladies but not as good, I liked The Edge of Seventeen and Ladybird more for example)
The Lodgers (2017) :down (gothic horror, but not as good as Byzantium or Crimson Peak for example)
Palm Springs (2020) (dramedy like Groundhog Day or Happy Death Day franchise)

Chinatown:

10/10

I saw this movie for the first time today and I wish the movie would never end. The screenplay is perfection personified, the performances are perfection personified, the direction is perfection personified, the music is perfection personified. Yes, it’s directed by Polanski but I can separate the art from the artist and enjoy the movie on its own merits knowing that he is not solely responsible for the end product. The screenwriters, cast, and crew are just as responsible for making this movie the magnum opus it is as Polanski.

Besides, a movie isn’t defined by the personal sins of the director but the quality of the movie itself. This movie is a masterpiece so one director’s personal failings isn’t going to change that for me.

Art can transcend the artist that makes it and this movie definitely does.
